DeSantis showboating could cost Florida billions

Read recently that suddenly now the GOP is switching tactics and is in favor of making voting easier, including mail-in ballots. Should be fun to watch how they sell that, after convincing their voters that they're fraudulent and make it easier to cheat.
I hadn't heard that, but I'm sure it's coupled with hand picked vote counters tossing Dem mail in votes.

Hell...Ironside just gave himself the power to overturn any election with an outcome he doesn't like.

DeSatan's problem is that he kissed up to trump to win the FL Gov race so hard, all trump has to do is to play DeSatan's ads praising trump up until the primary. DeSatan's done before he starts.
Puddin' Hands would lose by a bigger margin than trump if he were to somehow win the primary.

It is not what i dislike or not.

What is FACT is that the popular vote and electoral vote correlate within a range of error.

Lets see if i make this real simple if you can understand it? I am skeptical i can make it SIMPLE enough though, given the audience.

If your opponent gets 252MM popular votes in the US (all eligible 'of age' voters) there is no way to win the Electoral College. The math states that with that many popular votes they have also had to have won enough States and the electoral collage votes TOO.

You probably read that and keep thinking 'but...but.... the popular vote CANNOT dictate anything... what if they still win the EC'.

And that is because you are simple and dumb.

So maybe you reply 'no one is winning 252MM popular votes' showing you can comprehend one part while missing that is ONLY pointing out that at SOME CERTAIN POINT, ENOUGH POPULAR VOTES MEANS THE EC IS OUT OF REACH.

That is my point. I hold little faith that you are capable of understanding it. But those who study elections do. In all the Red States the fastest growing parts of the electorate tend to be Blue voters. That is how the Dems keep increasing their count of Popular votes, and why Red States will struggle to stay red.
Sadly, elections are decided by a small handful of states.

But I get your point. If trends continue across most states, those few swing states will overwhelmingly vote Blue. Or, have just enough Blue districts to hand the electoral votes to the Dem.

Mostly true. So Democrats, to paraphrase #45, "take no responsibility". LOL

Each party has its pet issues. Everyone blamed Clinton for Bush's banking catastrophe because he compromised with Gramm/Leach/Bliley and relaxed regulations. That might be the last era that Republicans compromised with Dems, even though Dems worked with Dubyah often.

Generally, many Dems. (lunatics in the 'Progressive caucus notwithstanding) want to create legislation and spending that helps the nation. trump's tax giveaway has created a mess that isn't going to end without a Dem. supermajority. When billionaires and huge corporations pay nothing in taxes, there's room for leeway. Of course, they pay millions to lobbyists instead of paying taxes.

Republicans have fewer and fewer sane legislators every session. There are some dinosaurs who remember what they are hired to do, but for the most part it's all pandering. With a Dem POTUS, their only job is to make sure nothing gets done, hoping to point fingers in the next general election.

That's not good for anyone but politicians.

The finger-pointing has existed as long as the two party system, but it's clearly gotten worse ever since the Cold War ended. To put all the blame in the Republicans is silly.

Good chance on the state level too if he fucks up the economy and burns all of his bridges in a quest to be President.
One would think, but he's safely gerrymandered his state to the point where Republicans will keep control locally. The Cubans tend to decide elections there, and he's got them in his pocket. They hate immigrants, ironically.

I don't know Florida law, but that is possible. He'll need the majority support of State reps and/or the voting public.
Dems are impotent in the state legislature. Gerrymandering is the bomb. Fla is a deep Red state now.

Thankfully, NY Dems are flocking there to avoid taxes ;)

That's Florida's problem. While it's true about gerrymandering, it's a tenuous grip in some areas. If he pisses off too many Republican-leaning voters, they'll either stay home or vote other than Republican. Balance the redistricting map against population density since, unlike the Electoral College, popular votes count.

Finger pointing is always a precursor to caving to compromise. There is no compromise since the Teabag wave.

Yes ma'am.

Bullshit. Why bring up the 3M votes if you understand Hillary lost?

Then put me on ignore, ma'am, and have a happy life. :)

As you prove time again too stupid to follow a conversation,..

YOu and i were discussing me saying the Popular Votes continuing WIDENING is impacting the GOP's ability to keep winning via the Electoral Vote. I stated that if that trend continues there will be no way for the republiclowns to win the Electoral College and to DEMONSTRATE the widening i cited how Hillary won by 3MM and Biden won by 7MM.

So anyone not stupid (not you) does not see that mention of 3mm and jump to 'herr derr, you think Hillary did not lose...why else say it', as a person not stupid (not you) understands I citing the two examples that make my point of the popular vote lead widening.

It was the entire context of what we were discussing and yet you were still incapable of following the discussion. You are such a typical right winger. Boebert and MTG level dumb.

Wouldn't it be better to work out a bipartisan plan to allow these workers to become documented and legal? The (R)s control the U.S. House; why aren't they putting forth some solutions, rather than whining about nonexistent "problems" like trans athletes and CRT and Hunter Biden?

Bipartisan plans are an anachronism, Owl.

The two major parties are now much too distant from one another for bipartisan plans.

Polarization is real, and its permanent.

Still, we have psychotic optimists believing
that they will find moderate solutions for immoderate problems.

I'm, of course, not one of them.
I'm a partitionist.

By the time we do that, however,
and it is inevitable if not imminent,
I won't be around to say "I told you so."

Sorry, I didn't mean to rile ya up so much. Are you one of them other 53 genders? One of those on the more feminine side?

Teabaggers are gone just like Goldwater conservatives. What's left is Trumpism and Team Normal in the leadership with Trumpism currently leading in the membership.

DeSantis may have stepped on his crank by vetoing a popular Republican crime bill. Guess who that gives an even bigger lead to as a result? LOL

Ron DeSantis Delivers Blow to Republicans
Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a blow to Republicans in the Florida Statehouse this week by vetoing a popular criminal justice reform bill they'd championed in a move some believe was intended to bolster his "tough on crime" credentials for the GOP presidential primary.

On Tuesday, DeSantis vetoed a popular criminal justice reform bill that would have allowed offenders to apply for their criminal record to be cleared if the charges against them had been sealed or expunged. The bill also included exceptions to current law for those who previously received expungement of offenses committed as a minor, though it would not apply to a minor who was charged as an adult.

Yes. As i was talking about with the Derp the TREND in Swing States, and all Red States actually, is that they tend to be fast growing now, but the fast growing parts are the urban areas and bigger cities which increasingly vote blue.

So if that trend continues thru the next few election cycles Dem's winning all the swing States will become more and more inevitable.

The republiclowns can recognize this and that is why they are so focused on trying to stop population growth and as MTG says, trying to impose a ban of people who move to Red States getting to vote.

Not winning the Independent Legislature case was a massive blow to them as that would have given the the legal power to throw out any votes they wanted, with no ability to check or balance them, at any level. They could simply say 'we think Maricopa county votes are suspicious so we will certify without them' and there is no court, no governor, no Secretary of State who could say otherwise.

I believe the Freedom Caucus is the leftover Teabag contingent. Not sure what advanage Puddin' Hands thought he would gain with that veto?

Almost every restaurant employs immigrants in the kitchen. Legal and illegal.

Same across the nation. We saw plenty of possible undocumented workers in restaurants in St. Louis, esp. in Chinese buffets. They were also ubiquitous in landscaping, roofing, and construction companies.

I don't understand the hysteria about them. They are hard workers, polite, spend their paychecks locally, support their families back home, and pay the same taxes we all do.

Another atypical catalyst to this escalation is the abortion issue, and impending birth control ban (if the SC gets a say)

I believe Republican women will come out against anti choice candidates, even if they have to hold their collective noses in the process. The mid terms should have been a warning to Republicans, but we see them doubling/tripling down now.

In large part because they feel secure that they will be able to suppress votes.

Wedge issue, with a load of disinformation for good measure.

Fear mongering. They gave up on the 'they're taking our jobs' bullshit, because many Americans really prefer not to work.
