Rubbish,
14 days after the spill Bush announced a takeover of the cleanup of the spill that happened only 40 days into his Presidency, Peter Jennings said it was "too little, too late", the next day the Dallas Morning News said the decision to send troops was "overdue", 22 days later (Seattle Times) the stories were about how it still wasn't "under control despite the promises", Congress was all over it, specifically the Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell said he was "slow to understand the magnitude", etc... all of this in a shorter period than now.
Seriously, story after story was about how Bush hadn't handled it right, then the pictures of the birdies along with stories about how troops weren't arriving fast enough.
All of these stories were in a much shorter period than it took for anybody in the press to take the lackadaisical response from this administration here seriously, their response? To send out "This President Cares" talking points which was repeated on every major news network that I watched...
The difference in how these men were treated by the press is obvious, only Onceler believes he "wins" or has "proven" something by simply saying something like "You're full of it".
