Democratic strategist James Carville upset about oil spill; White House pushes back

Remember Exxon/Valdez? It happened 40 DAYS into H.W. Bush's Presidency, and they were calling for his head after just 14 days of supposedly "not doing enough"...

The pass this guy has gotten from the media is astounding when you look at the differences in how these two were treated. The difference is like a wading pool compared to one of the Great Lakes.

No, I don't remember that and I think you're full of shit.

Damo, that is complete bullshit. There was a lot of criticism for various groups after Valdez, but I don't remember anyone calling for Bush's head.

You just throw that kind of stuff out there now, with nothing to back it up. It's the same as "there were caskets on TV every day under Bush!" for Iraq...

Trot out the mistakes of others while conveniently omitting The One from any culpability.

He's got more important things to do... You know like stumping for Barbara Boxer while the country swirls the bowl?

Hahahahahahaaaaaaaa!

When do you think he's going to walk on water and part The Mississippi?

Carville is an lsu grad and considered a top democrat strategist nation wide. Senator Mary landrue is saying the same thing as carville.

Landrieu is a oil company shill. No wonder you like her.

As for Carville, I can understand his anger, but I don't understand what exactly he wants the president to do that he isn't doing? There is no magic solution to the problem. He seems to be upset that Obama doesn't seem to be as upset as he is. And that's just stupid.

Please. They were falling all over themselves trashing his "lackluster" response, how he "ran as an environmental" president yet "wasn't caring"...

The pictures of the birdies never left our TV screens, it was almost a constant barrage of "bad Bush".

Yikes - I'm actually embarassed for you. You're right about the pics of birds, but the talk was all about the drunk captain & the oil companies - not Bush.

You have such a partisan, defensive memory of history. Your characterization is completely erroneous, as are your usual recollections of either of the Bush years.

Well, as soon as he gives permission to the new Water Parting Company to actually take action to part the water he'll ensure that he is within speaking distance of a camera to take credit for that parting or to trash the company for not being able to part it well enough if it fails. At that time he'll tell us how his administration has been 100% involved in every decision ever made to part water, in fact they traveled back in time to help out Moses. As far as walking on water, he'll point out that he's done that already, during the blizzard he slipped on the ice several times while he was walking on it.

This post is just dripping with irony. If irony were fertilizer, Onceler would be able to start a farm.

Well, when you realize you're wrong, it's always best to start in w/ the personal attacks.

Seriously - I railed against Bush Sr. for everything during his 4-year tenure, but not for Exxon Valdez. The media focus at that time was the drunk captain, and the lax rules by his superiors to allow it to happen, and the characterization of the cleanup as "fantastic" by Exxon. There was no "bad Bush" every day. That's just BS.

Rubbish,

14 days after the spill Bush announced a takeover of the cleanup of the spill that happened only 40 days into his Presidency, Peter Jennings said it was "too little, too late", the next day the Dallas Morning News said the decision to send troops was "overdue", 22 days later (Seattle Times) the stories were about how it still wasn't "under control despite the promises", Congress was all over it, specifically the Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell said he was "slow to understand the magnitude", etc... all of this in a shorter period than now.

Seriously, story after story was about how Bush hadn't handled it right, then the pictures of the birdies along with stories about how troops weren't arriving fast enough.

All of these stories were in a much shorter period than it took for anybody in the press to take the lackadaisical response from this administration here seriously, their response? To send out "This President Cares" talking points which was repeated on every major news network that I watched, except one...

The difference in how these men were treated by the press is obvious, only Onceler believes he "wins" or has "proven" something by simply saying something like "You're full of it".

One of the most hackish things I've read on here, and that's saying something.

"Story after story"...good lord. Your characterization is one of a Bush admin completely under fire on a daily basis.

Again - YES, they showed oily birds every day, but it did not relate to Bush. The media talk was the drunk captain, his superiors and Exxon. It's absurd to paint a picture where the lion's share of the blame went to the admin, or where the admin was even part of the daily focus. It simply wasn't.

I can't get over what a partisan hack you are sometimes.

Sad ad homs, again your post is just rich with irony.

The media talk was about the Bush Administrations mishandling of the cleanup with pictures of suffering birdies. You don't like that I am right so you stoop to this pretense. Saying, "It simply wasn't" when I point to direct examples of stories is just sad insistence without any evidence.

You accuse me of only what you see in yourself, I think it is because you believe that everybody reacts to everything exactly as you would. You're wrong.

Shoot even just "some" stories at all 14 days into it about how he wasn't "doing enough" was far more than what we've seen here for this Ad Ministration.
