Poor Cindy Lou, it's always all about you, isn't it?![]()
it's only about me if you choose to make it only about me
This started with me offering my opinion - in a non confrontational manner. No reason for you to go unhinged, but here we are.

Ohhhhh no, they read books and use the internet, how scary. I guess it scares Trumpublicans to have educated immigrants. What do illegals have to do with libraries?

Missouri is one confusing state. Marijuana dispensaries were everywhere, but such backwards politics. They seem perturbed at education, period. Missouri has a $6 billion budget surplus. This move to defund public libraries is nothing more than the Reichwingers' petty grievance politics. They passed a bill recently that removed hundreds of books from school libraries that had LGBTQ characters or that dealt with the topic. They can't legally remove them from public libraries, so instead they're removing funding which effectively bans *all* books.
It's only a matter of time before the bonfires start.
Western civilization decided almost 200 years ago that all citizens, regardless of economic or social status, should have free and easy access to literature, books, periodicals, newspapers.
I have never heard of this public service even being open for debate until 21st century American conservatives started hollering about defunding public libraries.
In this country, there has always been a contingent that opposed it. But my point is technology is making it less important - hence my blockbuster video store analogy
Cheap and easy access to the internet would be my focus - not brick and mortar solutions

21st century libraries are not the equivalent of Blackbuster video stores. Well funded libraries have gone digital, and I can watch streaming content, or download e-books, audio, and digital content from the comfort of my house.
And I can do it for free, which can't be said of commercial streaming and digital services.,
yet me still pay for and maintain giant store fronts - heating and cooling them.
Yes, dumbass, it's called being a part of society. If you ever need the services of the library (whenever you learn to read properly) they'll be there for you.
you angry bigots make me laugh.
Me calling you a dumbass does not come from a place of anger.
So? Why should govts pay for libraries?

Libraries, (like parks, schools, and roads) are a public good that benefits society but cannot be operated profitably by private entities.

Could a San Francisco experiment be an answer to L.A.’s sprawling street encampments? (answer is NO)

BTW, this is a major reason Whole Foods pulled out of San Fran. That campsite is about 2 short blocks from their store.
Sylvan Oaks Library criticized for response to homelessness, camping

Upping security and arresting those that camp comes in for criticism...
I can respect that.
But why does the Federal Government need involved in any way?
