Conservatives: fighting for your freedom to pay money to useless insurance CEO's

Insurance companies...

I swapped a prescription to wally World and it now costs me $5/mo without insurance on it. My copay thru my nearly $1k/mo BCBS insurance was $15 at CVS.
I was afraid to tell wally world I had insurance ;)

We know that we need health reform to ensure Americans get the high-quality, affordable care they need and deserve.

Under the status quo, too many Americans can’t get the affordable care they need when they fall ill.

But compassionless conservatives offer no solutions.

Real Health care REFORM is fine..and needed

we just will not accept the hostile 1000 page takeover of our health care system that this administration is pushing

You will accept the change that the majority voted for.

You will accept the change that Congress passes.

You will accept the change that President Obama signs into law.

Today, Americans spend more on health care than any other country in the world, yet we don’t live longer.

Scientists say this generation of American children may not live as long as their parents did.

If we do nothing, many of them will grow up to develop a chronic disease that could have been prevented if we created incentives to encourage wellness rather than just focusing on treatment.

When we help Americans quit smoking, prevent obesity and give them the tools and information they need to live healthier lives, we all benefit.

Chronic diseases are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States and are an incredible drain on our health care system. 85 percent of the money spent on health care goes toward people with at least one chronic condition. Some of these conditions include diabetes, heart disease and obesity, conditions that we know we can prevent.

The American people remember the old adage and they know that an ounce of prevention truly is worth a pound of cure.

That is just one of the reasons why helping to prevent disease and illness also has strong public support. A poll released this week by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found that Americans overwhelmingly rank prevention as a top priority for health reform.

Preventing illness and disease is an essential component of health reform.

We know that it isn’t enough to provide coverage and keep doing the same thing.

Health reform can help stop diseases before they happen. It can make our homes, our communities and our families healthier, safer and stronger. It’s time to make preventing illness and disease the foundation of our health care system.

when you are employed your employer pays some and you pay some....when you lose your job you have to pay it all, but the premium does not change.....the total cost is the same....

Obama started a plan that the govt will reimburse you for 65% of your cobra payment. I forget the name of the plan.

President Obama is committed to working with Congress to pass comprehensive health reform this year in order to control rising health care costs, guarantee choice of doctor, and assure high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

there already is a Government program for people with preexisting conditions who doesn't have insurance...

it's called medicare and medicaid..

Medicare is foir oldsters and medicaid is for poor people. Check on qualifying for medicaid. You basically have to have nothing and little income.

I'll bet MeMeMe! opposed Medicaid too.

Employer-sponsored health insurance premiums have nearly doubled since 2000, a rate three times faster than wages.

In 2008, the average premium for a family plan purchased through an employer was $12,680, nearly the annual earnings of a full-time minimum wage job.

Americans pay more than ever for health insurance, but get less coverage.

Despite consistent increases in spending, disparities among demographic groups persist. Low-income Americans and racial and ethnic minorities experience disproportionately higher rates of disease, fewer treatment options, and reduced access to care.

As President Obama grapples to reverse Bush's enormous unemployment rates, the disparities already apparent among these groups will continue to increase.

Cept your employer gets a tax incentive to pay it, so they come out ahead. For all intents and purposes, it DOES change. What you pay into the system changes big time and it becomes unaffordable for almost everyone.

First, to provide Americans with more affordable choices, we’ll set up a marketplace where you can compare plans and pick the one that’s right for you. None of the plans would be allowed to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition. And one of the options should be a public plan that would increase competition and keep private insurance companies honest.

Second, we have to align incentives for doctors and hospitals so that they’re rewarded based on the quality of care they provide, not on how many tests or procedures they prescribe.

Third, we need to move from a sickness system to a wellness system. By investing in prevention and emphasizing healthy lifestyles, we can save money while improving health.

Finally, reform must not add to our deficit over the next ten years. To that end, we have already identified hundreds of billions of dollars in savings from money that’s already being spent on health care, but is funding waste and overpayments to insurance companies.

there are clinics in your state you can go to that charge on your pay scale...have you checked into that?
If things are that bad for you, I can't see why you wouldn't qualify for medicaid or medical..

I have to save for months to get the $75 to go to a GP to get my prescriptions once a year for . Unfortunately, he constantly refers me to specialists and for blood work that I need done that I simply can't afford.

I also need special treatments once every three months or so that I have to go to the Emergency Room to get, which means that I have to let my health deteriorate to a certain point before they will perform that treatment.

uhhhhno.....the premium is the same....it was expensive before, it's expensive after....you just don't have anyone helping you pay it anymore....you see this is the problem.....you thought it was free before.....and you want it to be free again.....but instead of your boss paying it for you, you want me to pay it for you.....because you know I can't fire you.....

We are sure you will be happy to pay for it. Being the caring sharing comapssionate person that you surely are.

That doesn't answer my question. If it's not obvious to everyone in this thread yet, this hypothetical uninsured person who a preexisting condition is me. There is no actual choice. Either I pay to buy food, which I will add is scant, or I pay for insurance.

What would you do in my position meme? I'm serious, any help to get out of this situation would be awesome.

And yet, you can pay for internet access!!

Straw man.

Obama isn't proposing a single payer, free system. He's proposing a public insurance OPTION you can buy into like regular insurance but which doesn't suffer from the high overhead of having to pay CEOs millions, pay for advertising, and having to turn a huge profit to make shareholders happy.

Your problem is you can't debate what's actually being debate. If you did that, you'd quickly realize you were fucking retarded to actually oppose what anyone with half a brain realizes is a great idea.

I will concur that people with half brains think this is a good idea....beyond that, I disagree with everything you say.....
