A popular Columbia professor was charged Thursday with incest - accused of a sick sex relationship with a female relative, prosecutors said.

Political science Prof. David Epstein, 46, bedded the young woman over a three-year period ending last year, according to court papers.

He was arraigned before a Manhattan judge on a single felony incest count.

University spokesman Robert Hornsby said that Epstein "is now on administrative leave and will not be teaching students."

Epstein, who specializes in American politics and voting rights, has taught at Harvard and Stanford and often is quoted by news organizations. He also has blogged on The Huffington Post.

Sources said the victim was over 18 when the relationship began in 2006 and that the two often exchanged twisted text messages.

Epstein faces up to four years behind bars if convicted.

I get the impression it was a consensual relationship between adults.

David Epstein, 46, was charged Thursday with one count of third-degree incest. Police told the Spectator that the relationship appeared consensual.

Epstein is currently on administrative leave."

Why is incest illegal if both parties are adults?
 
i do have a huge problem with a parent/child sexual relationship

the parent has enormous influence over the child, as such, it cannot be compared to any other relationship

i wonder if threedee supports superior officers sleeping with their subordinates

Obviously, because the workplace (including the DoD one) is legally the same thing as a family tree.

This worries me in one particular way: Say that you're a man in your mid-twenties, and your mother passes. Daddy goes and marries a super hot 22-year-old, DD babe who is absolutely perfect physically. When she gets back from a long day of shopping for expensive lingerie with his money, I would want to be able to legally fuck the piss out of her. Wouldn't you?

You might want to relook at what incest is; that is not incest.

: sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry; also : the statutory crime of such a relationship
