Christians Burning Witches

It is relevent, in my opinion because it states that the OT and the law are still to be observed by Christians, and that the law will not pass until it has been fulfilled, which by my reading is the return of Jesus, his second coming and then there will be a new heaven and a new earth, as is talked about by Jesus and in the Book of Revelations.
Wrong. Jesus fulfilled scripture, and Revelations was written by by John of Patmos sometime between A.D. 81-96, and therefore he never knew or spoke to Jesus.

The Old Testament is read everyday of the week at Catholic Mass. It is very much a part of Catholic Christianity even though some try very hard to distance themselves from it when it's teachings are an inconvenience to them, it is a part of their faith and teachings.

many religious people suffer from cognitive dissonance. they want all of the good and none of the bad.

Catholics have been debating about the use of the OT since the very beginning. Among the numerous heresies such as Arianism and Monophysitism, there was one that wanted to throw out the OT and just go with the Gospels and writings of the NT.

I'm going to let you in on a secret......it isn't the "burn witches" part they're reading......and its countered by the "judgement is in God's hands, not our's" part.......

MATTHEW 5:17-19: 17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

He is very clear here, till heaven and earth pass away!

are you having trouble with this because you don't understand what commandments are?.......there are ten of them.....one is Thou Shall Not Murder.......

It is relevent, in my opinion because it states that the OT and the law are still to be observed by Christians

you see, here is where you demonstrate your problem......it does not state the OT is supposed to be "observed" by Christians.....it says the Law is to be observed......99% of the OT is NOT the Law.....I find it amusing when you carry your own ignorance into the argument and then condemn Christianity not for what it teaches but because of your own ignorance......basically, you condemn yourself, not Christianity......

????.....you think its impossible for a 90 year old man to have known someone in their 30s?.........would you say today that a 89 year old WW2 vet couldn't write a book about a friend of his who was killed in the war?......

I would say that is possable, but I would say that it was very unlikely tha the book would have direct quotes that were accurate. Especally in a time before much technology when most people were illerate. The book would also be incredably biased by the view of the writer. The general health of an 89 year old in todays society is much different than that of an 89 year old in 81 A.D.

My 79 year old mother could not remember enough to write a book about her own life, much less that of someone who died 30 years ago. I belive the "gospels" need to be taken with that grain of salt.

No you thought you changed your mind but that was your depends. You lied. I win!

Til, Lee was a fag.

lie

1.
a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood. Synonyms: prevarication, falsification. Antonyms: truth.
2.
something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture: His flashy car was a lie that deceived no one.
3.
an inaccurate or false statement; a falsehood.

Based on the actual definition, it is not I, but you, who is lying.

Why don't you know the difference?

really?......I've known old people who could go on for hours describing thing that happened to them when they were children.......actually I remember my grandmother telling a story about going down to the creek to get a bucket of water and finding a tribe of Indians camped on the other side......she was quite vivid of her description of her terror and running home to tell her parents......so if you don't mind, I'm more inclined to take your criticism with a grain of salt....

The Gospels were written 30 years after the fact, based on events that occured without recorders, notes, videos... Nobody was taking notes as Jesus was giving the Sermon on the Mt. The accounts of Jesus's last three years are basically the memory of old men who all had personal adgenda's and subjective memories.

Hell, you cant get three eye witnesses to agree on how an accident took place three months ago, even after they review a written police report, or there own written statement.

I don't think John was that old.

everyone else does......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_the_Apostle
John the Apostle (Aramaic Yoħanna, Koine Greek Ἰωάννης) (c. AD 6 – c. 100) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He was the son of Zebedee and Salome and brother of James, son of Zebedee, another of the Twelve Apostles. Christian tradition holds that he outlived the remaining apostles—all of whom suffered martyrdom (except Judas Iscariot)—and ultimately died of natural causes "in great old age in Ephesus" at the beginning of the second century.[1] The Church Fathers consider him the same person as John the Evangelist, John of Patmos, and the Beloved Disciple.

If you had four eye witnesses all with the exact same story then I'd definitely suspect collusion.
