Can we all agree this is disgusting?

 You really have NO knowledge of ASD. I shouldn't even let something as asinine as your statement get to me, but your ignorance is truly astounding. Until you have spent some time researching it, been in a room full of children afflicted with it, and sat on a waiting list for a year to get a child the therapy he needs only to have it NOT be covered by medical insurance, please keep idiotic comments like that to yourself.

^ This is the fiestiest I have ever seen Meg.

LOL I am pretty non-confrontational for the most part. I don't believe in sticking my nose in something I don't know much about. If it's something I have spent hundreds of hours of research on however, then I have no problem calling bullshit. :)

So, you don't think there are ANY cases of "autism" which are fake/misdiagnosed? As far as I can tell, RStringfield isn't proposing that autism is not a real disorder. So don't get your panties in a wad.

Here, let me give you a personal invitation ..

Beyond the irresponsible corporate action, had she decided after being implanted that she had bitten off more than she could chew, would you support her having an abortion?

No, I would not support it; I think I've made that clear enough already.

Having said that, had she sought an abortion during the first two months of pregnancy, I would not stop her from doing so. I am pro-life, but I am also pragmatic. Abortion should be legal (albeit restricted) throughout most of the first trimester. It is unrealistic to think that we can put an end to this practice overnight.

In the meantime, there are real ways in which we can reduce the number of abortions, such as more flexible adoption laws.

I ask because that's what happens quite often after a woman finds out she's pregnant.

I do not believe abortion should be used as "birth control."

I ask because THAT is reality, not some woman of questionable intelligence being implanted with 8 embryos. A woman discovering she's pregnant when she didn't want to be IS the norm that happens everyday in America. YET, once born, pro-lifers take no responsibility for their demand that an unwanted child be born. I've always found it odd that the same people screaming for the births of unwanted children are the same people screaming about welfare, aid to children, headstrart, and every other program designed to help needy children .. as it seems that pro-lifers are the same ones here screaming about having to take care of these children.

I'm less concerned about anomalies than I am the norm.

This conversation is becoming quite boring.

Why do you insist on steering every discussion off-topic?

I believe there are hundreds of circumstances of autism misdiagnosed...usually the other way around. What benefit is there to diagnose a child as autistic when it's not the case? Those who DO the diagnosing (usually neurologists) have zero benefit from it. Most hospitals and clinics don't offer services or therapies, insurance companies don't cover treatment, and most parents go bankrupt trying to obtain the therapies needed for their diagnosed child(somewhere around 20k a yr). BTW did you realize that ADHD and autism are both neurological disorders and neither of them have a set criterion or test for doctors to use in diagnosing? The problem is NOT that there are fake diagnoses out there, but that the spectrum has become so wide and prevalent that it's hard to catch them all. Until the culprit of these neurological disorders (ASD, ADHD, Alzheimers) is found, and it is NOT fake/misdiagnosis, you will continue to see the increase in numbers.

Those spectrum disorders show a lot of the same systems, with is why a misdiagnosis would most likely occur. The only people who would stand to benefit would be pharmaceudicals, but since they don't do the diagnosing, I see no conspiracy in it.

What needs to get done is to figure out how to prevent babies from developing these disorders while in utero. Lots of science out there to be conducted.

I appreciate that at least you gave a straight forward and honest answer.

Why do I insist of discussing what I think .. because my name ain't Tabasco and it ain't Damocles either. I speak to what blackascoal believes irrespective of what you believe.

Apparently, you think I said autism does not exist or something. I did not say anything of the kind.
