Can we all agree this is disgusting?

The doctors should've refused the in vitro fertilization. It's quite clear that she's fertile and didn't need to undergo the treatment. It wasn't even profitable to them - she's going to have to file bankruptcy and they aren't going to get any money off of it. I have no idea why they would be so stupid.

Publicity.

My libertarian side wants to allow it, but it's pretty absurd to do so particularly if they are just going to become sucklers of the welfare teat.

Even if they can afford the children, it's unnecessarily playing with the lives of the children. Who wants to be part of an octuplet? There are ethical considerations here.

If they can't afford them, there's no question that it shouldn't be allowed.

There are ethical considerations in forbidding it as well, but like I said I mostly agree with you on this.

The society shouldn't have to pay for children you had that you knew you couldn't afford to raise properly.

I think we should all think before we speak because if we don't, those words can come back and bite us.

Remember Nadya Suleman’s statements about raising her children – all 14 of them on her own? How she wasn’t, and never would, take money from welfare? How about when she said she wasn’t ever going to take a single penny from any tax payers’ pocket? Well apparently she has forgotten all about them.

Even though she has stated she “doesn't consider the public assistance she receives to be welfare” the rest of the Country does! First off, she is getting $490 a month in food stamps: a number which will increase substantially with the new 8 children.

Then there is the money she collects on behalf of three of her children. Suleman told NBC that she receives the payments because one of her kids is autistic, another has ADHD and a third experienced a mild speech delay with "tiny characteristics of autism." She refused to say how much they get but Social Security payments in California can be up to $793 a month PER each child – if that were the case, she would be getting $2,379 per month!

Then we add in her disability payments which according to the LA Times, started as temporary but could be reassigned as permanent. The Times also reported she filed a second claim after she was in a car accident stating she would not have been hit had she not been seeking treatment from the first problem! There was no report on if she was able to cash in on that attempt. This is all for a young woman who stated to a judge she was so bad off she could barely get out of bed or care for her then ONE child! Of course on the NBC interview she leaned down and swooped up one of her older toddlers without hesitation and without a grimace or reaction. She seems pretty capable to me!

This is all the proof I need that we are living in a sick, insane country.

What about the DR that did multiple embroynic implants into her. He is supposed to be the educated professional.

by all means WM, I think you're right. You should call your legislator and have him/her submit legislation to regulate mothers to only giving birth to two kids.

That's not what I said. I was talking about in vitro fertilization. It shouldn't be used on perfectly fertile mothers who can't care for their kids.

but i also think fertilization shouldn't be done for mothers who can't care for more kids. I believe you think this way as well because you couldn't POSSIBLY be that naive to think that this particular woman wouldn't have found a willing donor if the DR vitro said no.

It's interesting that the right looks at this story and fixates, to exclusion of all else, on whatever welfare she is getting. As if what this one person , who couldn't make a ripple, is getting matters.

Whenever I hear of some woman intentionally becoming pregnant with 5+ kids at once, I am disturbed by it, but they are within their rights. People ought to be free to have as many kids as their heart desires, within any time frame, so long as we don't have to pay for them. That is my problem with Nadia Suleman; she is a parasite.

The tragedy is that she is an obviously mentally disturbed woman who now has 14 kids to completely fuck up.

Agreed.

The further tragedy is that in our country, if you want cosmetic surgery, your doctor is ethically bound to consult with you first to ascertain, to the best of their ability, that you are psychologically sound and having the procedure(s) because you want to. In other words, if they should find that you are having your breasts enlarged because your husband called you a flat-chested ugly pos who he can't stand to look at, then they are ethically bound to recomment you have psychological counseling. If this is refused, an ethical surgeon will refuse to perform the procedure.

Yet here we have an obviously seriously disturbed woman, who truly seems to believe she is Angelina Jolie (affecting her mannerisms even in interviews), who has 6 children already, and doctors implant her with 8 more! No questions asked! We'll do it, because we can do it. That's, a tragedy.

It is disturbing. Granted, we do live in a free country. People should be free to get whatever surgery they want, so long as they find a willing doctor and have the money to pay for it. But in this case, taxpayers are picking up the tab. And frankly that disgusts the hell out of me.

Agreed! I'd say as much as 50% of "autism" cases are fraudulent.

The cure for most cases of "autism" is good ol' fashioned corporal punishment.

You disgust me.

My guess is what you know about autism could fit in a cup of coffee and still leave room for a cup of coffee. Same goes for Stringy.

One of my friends' little sister is "autistic." I see no difference in behavior between her and her twin (non-"autistic") sister: they're both spoiled little brats who need a spanking. But instead of discipline, she gets all sorts of drugs prescribed by left-wing psychologists. It's the same bullshit as ADHD; most of these kids just need a stern slap on the behind.

There are real cases of autism. But there are also many fake ones. Do you deny this?

I really have no words for you Tabasco. It makes me want to puke that I share the same genome with an animal like you. You are a disgusting subhuman wretch who deserves nothing but a bullet shot in the back of the head.

Proof positive that you know nothing at all.

Autism is of course a spectrum disorder and kids with pronounced autism often times can't even speak. So if you don't see a difference it's because you're a moron or her sisters is moot OR the kid is only marginally autistic.

Who diagnosed it, by the way? A "left-wing" psychologist?

Jesus. Take a stiff drink of gasoline and do us all a favor.
