Are Confederate soldiers considered US vets?

Will you denounce Nazis as evil people?

No response ... only a deal with it gif

We have our answer...
By the way, racist ... the staunch liberal socialist Carl Sagan looks great in those sunglasses ...
Deal with that, Nazi racist.

Call someone who cares, snowflake.

People were tired of the waycist meme years ago, and proved it Nov. 8.

I have been to Oświęcim in Poland, Nostradumbarse. Any idea what that was infamous for, arsehole?

No, it is not.

"Congress demanded Lee’s arrest, trial and execution. President Andrew Johnson, on his political honeymoon, was in favor of it. There was widespread support. But General Grant was enraged. He had given his word. It was his name on the parole: put down your arms, go home and fight no more. We will not harm you. Robert E. Lee had done just that. His parole had not been violated.

Grant insisted that he was not a politician, and admitted that President Johnson and Congress could do as they liked. But he added that the “parole” came under military law, and that he, as General of the Army, had pledged his word, and he aimed to keep it. He stressed that General Lee had scrupulously kept his word as well.

Then Grant quietly said that if charges were pressed, he would feel compelled to resign as General of the Army. His own sense of honor would be violated. This was a blow to the new President. Ulysses S. Grant was the most famous man in the country, and perhaps the most highly regarded. Johnson, who would face many problems and crises during his tumultuous administration, could not afford to lose the support and good will of the popular General. It was also not a battle he chose to fight.

The matter of a trial for Robert E. Lee was left to lie and eventually die. No further discussion of arresting and possibly executing General Lee was pressed. If Lee ever knew that Grant had put his personal prestige and honor on the line for him, it is unknown."

He said: Under US law Lee was considered a treasonous criminal and a traitor to his country.

General Lee and the confederacy were never convicted of treason in a court of law.

You can give all your opinions on General Lee being a traitor all you like but the fact remains that General Lee was never convicted of such in a court of law.

Thank you Christie for helping clear that up.
Lee was a traitor and a confirmed white supremacist to his dying day.
Without Grant's insistence on honouring his word and his magnanimous reprieve to his mortal enemy, Lee would, no doubt, have hung for treason.

Under the US constitution, nobody is hung for treason without due process in-which general Lee and the confederacy never got.

The confederacy was never tried and convicted of treason in court.

If the government charges me with treason and throws me in jail then I demand due process. I want to be charged with the crime by a judge and I want a lawyer standing next to me ready to defend my constitutional rights.

Jefferson Davis, the president of the confederacy, General Robert E. Lee and the rest of the confederacy were all never given due process and their day in court.

After all that, I'd say no, but regardless, the bigger question is why are people so worked up over removing these statues? The Confederacy was a separate nation, and that separate nation is responsible for the deaths of millions of Americans, so,why is it important to maintain statues of Confederate leaders?

Everyone has to pick their battles, and for conservatives this is a damn silly one to get involved in

You have zero understanding about the honor that soldiers have for each other. Are you not aware of events like American WWII vets meeting their Japanese war counterparts, decades later, ... and shaking their hands and embracing them.

You are one stupid immoral fuck.

I didn't say he was convicted. The whole point is that Gen. Grant stopped the arrest-trial-conviction process before it started.

:nonono:

It's up to you to prove your accusation and you can't, so you just continue to act like a spoiled 5 year old who's throwing a tantrum. :D

You have also proved to be a racist Nostradumbarse, your disgusting attitude towards Asian women has been demonstrated many times. Why anybody gives you the time if day is beyond me, you're an ocean going hypocrite.

I wonder if he could DISPROVE an accusation that he's a closeted homosexual cock sucker?? :dunno:

it is obvious i am wasting my time trying to have a reasonable conversation with you.

3D just thinks he's a contrarian and will say anything to create an argument.

It's better to just laugh at his posts and if you reply, just do so remembering that he's just trying to stir shit up; regardless of his declarations of him being honest.

Not true. If you praise the Church, America, the Pacific NW, baseball and apple pie, microbreweries, peanut butter and chocolate, the color green, Star Wars, the merits of buying American, Shakespeare and the English language, and a whole range of other topics, I will not argue with you.

It's only when you defend evil that I go off.

We should have hanged the rest of the generals, as well as the CSA political leadership.

Would have, could have, should have \ if wishes were horses, beggars would ride....

We should have hung the Emperor of Japan and all his aides also; but we didn't.

You prove what we know you are by refusing to denounce racism and nazism. A non-racist or an anti-nazist would denounce those beliefs in a heartbeat, you can't because they are part of your core, racist.
