IIRC, she graciously accepted her defeat and congratulated Trump on his victory then encouraged her supporters to support the President for the good of the nation.

Time will tell. OTOH, what is "sanity" to the far Left or far Right doesn't always match up with what most Americans consider reasonable.

Agreed sanity prevailed in this case. Time will tell if it continues to do so.

The Progressives have been growing stronger. This was the first election where Presidential nominees openly declared an agenda of gun confiscation instead of just dancing around it as Hillary did in 2016. A second piece of evidence is the impeachment. Pelosi knew it was a loser and a waste of time but faced enough Progressive opposition she consented to it.

No doubt Pelosi can stand her ground, but she's also practical. She'd rather remain Speaker than not. Avarice can trump balls in many people, especially in politics.

It will be interesting to see how many of those successes Biden will continue. It should be difficult to reverse the deal Trump made with Mexico and the Central American caravans. That was a real winner..

You don't think that the goofball conspiracy theories by Russian operatives that flooded social media influenced enough people to turn against her that it cost her significant support?

The gun buy back had very little support amongst the party as a whole.

The impeachment of Trump was their sworn duty.

The GOP impeached Bill Clinton on much flimsier grounds than what Trump was impeached for and the fact that they knew it was going to be killed in the Senate was no reason to send a message that just because a President has broad support amongst his party, he should be allowed to shit on the law.

It's wise to pick and choose your battles. Pelosi was wise, the Progressives are not. The impact of the impeachment, as deserved as it was, had an adverse impact on the national response to the Coronavirus. Actions have consequences.

Clinton's impeachment wasn't flimsier, but like Trump's, it was certainly a loser. Clinton perjured himself and obstructed justice. Like Trump's crimes, those are serious charges. Like Hillary getting away with perjury and misuse of classified material, the rich and powerful are given special rules and special justice. Notice that none of the Clintons answered for their crimes and I doubt the Trumps will either.

Re: the grounds for Clinton's impeachment, I think you have to view it in the larger context.

What started out as an investigation into an Arkansas land deal 20 years prior, turned into a sordid sex scandal based solely on an illegally recorded telephone conversation by a former Bush WH staffer. The "perjury" was more of a cute exercise in semantics than an outright lie and in most people's opinion, did not rise to the level of an impeachable offense as it took place during a deposition in a civil lawsuit rather than in a criminal trial.

If you compare that to the level of Trump's lies, attempted obstruction of justice and attempted bribery of a foreign government using taxpayer funds as leverage, the two are not even in the same universe of seriousness.
