This is one of the biggest tragedies of the 'US First' mentality. We break off relations with other nations, then when something big comes along which requires cooperation, we don't have good working relationships with them. We have a leader who doesn't understand how a good relationship works, nor why you might want or need one. He is a completely dysfunctional communicator. Everything is a competition with him. When I first started looking into the BRI & the ramifications of it I believed what trump was doing was helpful-confronting them but the more I understood the dynamics @ play the less it seems to help, or perhaps even matter in the long run..

Getting a "great deal" w/ the CCP is good in the short-run, & that assumes we get more out of it then selling raw materials..

In the long run having reliable allies & maintaining our place in "our" world order is more important than just selling wheat, soy beans & chicken feet to China..

I don't think there is anything the CCP would want more than for the USA to be just another source of raw materials.......

Well, I know there are people in the CCP who get it that they need a strong USA to sell product to, and that they suffer without that. It is in their best interest for us to do well. It's a symbiotic relationship.

Sure it is~ for now....... Will that be true in 5 years or 10?? They have a solution to that problem, replace us.... The BRI comes w/ benefits, this is one of them..

The commerce here is huge but for how long?? The business along the BRI is expanding rapidly.. YOu thought about that part??

That's what the Geneva II talks are for (among other things).
But it's going to be tough to find a replacement that everyone agrees with
