A Win for Syria or More Than That?

If you were one of their citizens and spoke about any of these leaders the way you spoke about Obama, I'm sure you would come to quickly understand just how bad life could be for Libyans, Cubans, Venezuelans and Syrians who opposed their government.

I'd call that 'head in the sand logic.'

What confuses you about Al Qaeda?

How bad life could be for Libyans? :0) Libyans HAD the best quality of life in Africa, better than Russians, Brazilians, and Saudis .. and Gaddafi not only EXPONENTIALLY improve the quality of life for the Libyan people, he also improved the lives of people in other African countries and was hailed as a hero.

Libyans got more from their government than you get from yours.

You don't know what you're talking about .. and you refuse to see the obvious.

Time to duck your head back into the sand ..

You're drinking the kool-aide.

Where I'm sitting, it looks like you support dictators.

I don't really give a damn about where you sit or what your opinion of me may be.

If facts are too hard for you to digest, then you shouldn't ask questions or presume that you know what you're talking about..

Do you? The reality is the State Department started crabwalking that one back immediately.

This is like Pee-Wee Herman, "I meant to do that!"

They lucked out that Putin threw them a lifeline, Congress was not going to vote for this.

Congress was going to weaken America because the Republicans wanted to defeat President Obama. But does anyone believe that this deal with the Russians would have come about had President Obama not started this ball rolling?

Well, it's always possible to recognize that neither the opposition nor Assad are good actors and lament the fact that millions of innocent people just want to live their lives in peace but will not have the opportunity to do that. That's an option. Cheerleading for a brutal dictator as he wages war on his own people because the US won't attack his forces is pretty fucked, in my opinion.

Yeah. What DH said!

Assad is a failure as a leader of his people - he's killed way too many of them.

Doesn't mean the rebels will be any better. The whole thing sucks, and non-combatants will end up suffering the most.

The 'deal' is designed to give Assad and the Syrian people more time.

I highly doubt that Syria will give up its chemical weapons .. and they have the examples of Iraq and Libya to support that.

I didn't ask any questions of you. I told you my opinion of your views. If you don't give a damn, that's fine. Just do me a favor and stop pretending you are "anti-war." You aren't.

:0)

Yet between us there is only one of us who maintains the same position today that I had when Bush was in office.

Do me a favor and stop pretending that you are anything but a partisan.

I will chear when this dictator who wouldn't even admit he had these weapons while he used them to kill his people is now not going to be able to kill anyone with them and NO ONE will inherit them in his absence.

Its a win for the world.

go on and hate Obama if it makes you feel all warm and cozy

Once again... are people any less dead if he uses conventional bombs? Which he happens to once again be doing?

and when Saddam was raping, murdering and starving his people... what was it you were saying Desh?

That has been the strangest thing about desh's position on this - which has been kind of shocking, anyway.

I'll always maintain that Iraq was a mistake of epic proportions, but Saddam was as bad as anyone when it come to crimes against humanity & his own people.

Which position is it that I have not maintained?

I am still vehemently outspoken against needless for-profit war .. you appear to be sitting on a fence talking about 'dictators' while trying to find an out for the guy you voted for.

Was Saddam a 'good guy?'

Were you against the attack and destruction of Iraq even though Saddam was not a good guy?

It's a simple question, BAC. Which position is it that I have not maintained?

WHAT?

I'll try again ..

Were you against the attack and destruction of Iraq even though Saddam was not a good guy?

Yes, I opposed military intervention in Iraq and I opposed it in Libya and I oppose it in Syria. So, again, which position is it that I have not maintained?

half the people in Syria support Assad, half support the rebels......how do WE decide which half will be damned?......

BULLSHIT

Most Syrians back President Assad, but you'd never know from western media
Assad's popularity, Arab League observers, US military involvement: all distorted in the west's propaganda war

In other words, you were against the invasion of Iraq even though Saddam was not a good guy .. but you want to talk to me about Assad not being a good guy.

If you oppose US intervention in Syria, why the hell are you talking to me about dictators?

.. and I rest my case.

I'm not going to quibble over 50/50 or 40/60 or 30/70.....it doesn't alter my point about whether WE have a right to decide........but I do have to comment.....dang, do you realize how many chemical weapons he could have bought with the money he paid for that flag?........
