A Civil Discussion: Evolution, Science, Theology, Atheism, Climate

I disagree w/ the basic premise, that the scientific community has opined that if their theories are true, religion must be false (if I'm reading that correctly).

Many scientists ARE religious; some have spoken about their pursuits as ultimately searching for god and an explanation for the universe. I always reject the premise that belief in evolution & abiogenesis are inconsistent w/ a belief in god & religion.

It depends upon the acceptance of logic and reason in relation to accepting evolution and abiogenesis as being compatible with Christian doctrine....considering the obvious and unambiguous fact that all Christian faith is rooted in revelations found in the Holy Bible as no one is born with an innate belief in Christianity and the morality found to exist within that philosophy.....all faith comes from the record found in the Holy Scriptures even a faith constructed upon false religion and false hope. If the belief in religion does not come from the record found in scripture and carried forth throughout the past 5000 years just where does it come from? It can't come from word of mouth.....even that transmission must have had its origins from some physical source.

The next point to consider is the reality that one cannot accept The Bible as righteous doctrine and accept a belief in evolution nor abiogenesis with any consistency whatsoever as the scriptures contradict both man made theories and its easily proven via a simple presentation of the actual content of the text when read and comprehended in the contextual integrity in which it was translated. Either you accept the Scriptures as doctrine and authority or you accept man made tradition....you can't have your cake and eat it also. Real Science...that which is demonstrable via use of the Scientific Method does not contradict one truth found to exist in the Holy Scriptures....like the theories found to exist in only one place....the mind and thought of man. The 2 distinct and opposing philosophies both cannot be true...according to the law of the excluded middle. Either one is true and the other is not....or both are false, but both cannot be true when logic and reason are applied.

" ... God…that’s force ..." is an imaginary force, and will remain so until the existence of any god has been proven.
.

obviously that is a false statement.....a thing does not come into existence upon being proven.......God is not an imaginary force until proven......either he is a force or he isn't a force regardless of proof......

He tends to do that with everything he talks about.
Poor TD.

Is that why you won't take any bets on the moronic predictions you make?

Until you can demonstrate how your capital-G god covered all-the-bases, your comment carries no more weight than claiming "Space Pixies covered all the bases.

The onus is on you.
.

not at all.....there is no "onus" for faith......you believe or you don't believe......I, for example, believe in God but not Space Pixies........you apparently lean toward the pixies.......how do you lean on Herbert Spencer?.....

Man didn't evolve from what we know today as "apes" but from a common ancestor as I've said before, modern apes also evolved from that ancestor, they just took a different path that seems to be working fine for them.

I am amused by the "different" paths claim. But again, it is laughable that a particular ape evolved into man, while another stayed an ape. Funny stuff.

You were actually doing so well at being civil for once TD, but I knew it was just a matter of time.

How was I uncivil to you? You think your buddies are being civil?

That is not what Evolution says. It says man and monkeys have a common ancestor. It does not say we evolved from moneys. The family tree has several branches that wound up being distinct.

Darwin's Theory of Evolution - A Theory In Crisis
Darwin's Theory of Evolution is a theory in crisis in light of the tremendous advances we've made in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics over the past fifty years. We now know that there are in fact tens of thousands of irreducibly complex systems on the cellular level. Specified complexity pervades the microscopic biological world. Molecular biologist Michael Denton wrote, "Although the tiniest bacterial cells are incredibly small, weighing less than 10-12 grams, each is in effect a veritable micro-miniaturized factory containing thousands of exquisitely designed pieces of intricate molecular machinery, made up altogether of one hundred thousand million atoms, far more complicated than any machinery built by man and absolutely without parallel in the non-living world."
