The Case for Banning Sharia Law in America

So you will keep spouting about Sharia law, but any 1st Amendment violations involving Christianity are someone else's problem?

How about we pass a law saying that no religious laws may be used instead of US laws?

I like things to be fair. The only laws that should be used for ANY American citizen in a court of law are laws passed by legislators who are elected by American citizens. Would you agree with me on that?

As long as none of those laws are based solely on religious dogma or belief, yeah I can go along with that.

Now, what if two citizens entered into a contractual agreement, and based it on Sharia Law. Would the contract be null & void after your laws were passed?

That might be a matter of opinion on what that would include. However, we can agree that the laws that are on the books are the ones to be enforced and not Sharia because that would be unconstitutional.

What two people want to do among each other is their business, but they can't be binding if they conflict with the laws of the land. However, when it comes to our courts, no religious laws should be used. We already have laws and statutes. It's silly to even consider it and any judges who use Sharia should be reversed or removed. This is just basic common sense. It's amazing to watch some people defend Sharia law in our courts, yet do all in their power to limit the freedom of Christians. Simply amazing.

Can you explain the fascination the left has with appeasing Islam, yet their hatred for Christians is all to evident?

No, there are still laws on the books that are based solely on religious dogma. And they should be removed.

Do you have an example?

Haven't I given them? The best example is Blue Laws which forbid a privately owned business from opening on Sunday, selling alcohol on sunday, or sometimes forbids opening until after 12 noon on sundays.

Mostly good ol' southern baptists. But that is largely irrelevant. The fact that we have laws based on or favoring one religion is against the 1st Amendment.

Nope. Those laws were passed by the people of that city or county. The people determined the Sunday law. That is not against the First Amendment. Your argument of "favoring one religion" isn't a legal argument. It's an opinion.

Oh, so if a majority of people in a city or county are muslim then Sharia Law would be ok with you?

Nope. The only laws that are legal are the ones passed by legislators elected to office by the citizens to represent them. Sharia Law is Islamic Law and is a completely separate legal system. Can't have two legal systems in a land where everyone has the same rights under law. That's not fair. You want things to be fair, don't you?

Bach-to-Mom spreads hate:

No wonder she's so far down in the polls.

The Sharia boogeyman is another fake crisis manufactured by the right to distract voters from the failure of tax cuts to create jobs.

You sure seem concerned that we all know there is no threat from Sharia Law. Are you trying to convince us or yourself?

Newt Gingrich, on Sharia: "We should have a federal law that says Sharia law cannot be recognized by any court in the United States," Gingrich said to a standing ovation from the audience. The law will let judges know, Gingrich said, that "no judge will remain in office that tried to use Sharia law."

We are just repeating what we saw in the 2004 election – win by fear.

It’s really all the GOP has to run on.

If they can sell to the American people the false notion that somehow the “evil Muslims” are invading our country, shredding our constitution and rewriting our laws then they know they can peel off a bunch of those soccer moms and timid independents.
