Troy Davis execution delayed

They didn't get the memo, apparently.

Too bad... so sad... another pinhead bites the big one!

Sorry, can't feel sorry for the guy... I think he was guilty as charged and it's a travesty the family and taxpayers have had to deal with his sorry ass for the past 22 years, while he exhausted every attempt at appeal. Liberals don't really give a shit about the details of this case or justice, the guy had black skin and was convicted of killing a white police officer, that's all they need to know. It just automatically stands to reason with a Lib that he was innocent, framed by racist white authorities, and wrongly convicted (and executed.)

You are a detestable piece of shit.

Further proof if proof was necessary that America has a long way to go before it can call itself a civilised community.
Seven of nine witnesses recanted but still you KILLED him. You killed this man, everyone of you! And leaders of the bloodthirsty scum on this forum?
Who but the men whose minds are closed tighter than a ducks arse and who represent the very bottom of your society.

AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIAN!
What revolting pieces of shit they are to be sure.

How many people have YOU killed, Dixie?
How many people have YOU killed, Bravo?

There are no words that adequately express the disgust we feel. Georgia forever on my mind!
(Now you can laugh or insult)

The execution of Troy Davis proves Oscar Wilde's statement that, "America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between".

You are nearly right. You should have said 'they are going to bring an individual' .... with a good chance that he is black and/or poor and/or has a previous conviction and/or they are not of the same state and or they just dont give a shit.

I dont know how many times I have to say this, but honestly, I am not what you call a Libbie.

I am anti violence, anti death penalty FOR level playing fields, AGAINST exploitation and VERY much against any man who will lie to gain personal advantage. Some of those ideals, I am sure, may co-incide with what you believe a Libbie to support and some may even be what an extreme right winger like yourself supports. But any man, any society who, on the one hand condemns killing and at the same time kills and has killed more innocent people and put to death more criminals that ANY other civilised nation in modern times must be held to ridicule and shunned on as many international stages as is possible.
People like you are slowly losing and, with good luck and a fair wind, will be replaced by a younger, more humane generation.

Can't wait for them to just keel over and die. It can't come too soon. I mean, really.

I'm sure there was civilisation, but it was fleet of foot as a hunted deer and died by the same hand.

Thank you Dixie, you are so revealing with every pinhead statement you utter.

"the guy had black skin and was convicted of killing a white police officer, that's all they need to know"

So he has to be guilty

Recanted? After how long? After how much cajoling from the black community to reconsider what they saw?

I have known police officers all my life, and one thing I can tell you about that 'brotherhood'... if someone kills one of their own, they are going to bring that individual to justice, they won't be satisfied with, or settle for, anything less. To suggest that they would rush to blame it on an innocent man, is unthinkable and unrealistic to believe. They did a thorough investigation, gathered evidence, made a case, and convicted the man with a majority black jury.

Here, let me help explain it to you Low... You are a Libbie.. and he is a black man who killed a cop... so it stands to reason you have to be on his side and see this as some inequality or social injustice... no doubt, perpetrated by evil racist white men... and the beat goes on!

Are you insane? You would have to be to write such crap. Innocent people are prosecuted and convicted, every day. There are several different kinds of justice. White Justice. And Justice for everybody else. Rich Justice, and Poor Justice. Connected Justice, and Unconnected Justice. Please.
I've known of police officers. They are not above planting evidence, lying, shooting first and asking questions later, or not even asking any questions at all.
You don't know the circumstances, details or the finer points of the Davis case, so just STFU.
And the beat actually does go on, exactly as you described it. But your time is coming. Every mans has to appear before the Judgment Seat. And what will you say then?

Somehow, I think your case will be summarily dismissed, in quick fashion. Exit down.

PLEASE. Hands so dirty, they will never come clean. From Native Americans, to Africans, to the Jews...and everybody in between. There is a special place in Hell. (philosophically-speaking, of course)

Only for a week, but at least someone other than those mouth-breathers in GA will get a chance to review the case.

The execution of Troy Davis was delayed temporarily by the US supreme court on Wednesday night in a dramatic intervention just as he was due to be put to death by lethal injection.

The last-minute decision caused confusion outside the prison in Jackson, Georgia, where family, supporters and civil rights campaigners broke into celebration as they believed the court had granted Davis a stay of execution.

But it quickly emerged that the delay was only temporary, while the justices considered whether to issue a stay.

Until that moment it seemed almost certain that Davis would be executed, as the Georgia supreme court had rejected a last-ditch appeal by Davis's lawyers over the 1989 murder of off-duty policeman Mark MacPhail, for which Davis had been sentenced to death despite overwhelming evidence that the conviction is unreliable.

A Butts County superior court judge had also declined to stop the execution.

Um... They killed him last night.

Toast? The general consensus is he was innocent. Racist POS. Slavery is still in "full effect".

That really isn't the "general consensus".. The general consensus is there was controversy, 7 of 9 witnesses recanted, etc.. However there is no consensus of innocence in this case.

(BTW - I do not support the death penalty, this post should not be taken as some positive effort to support it).

There ought to be consensus that there was more than reasonable doubt regarding his guilt.

It amazes me that every time one of these minority killers is about to die for a brutal killing, the liberal idiots come out of the wood work to proclaim his innocence. Davis sat on death row for 22 years, even the four liberal justices on the nation's highest court agreed - Davis had multiple chances to prove his innocence, and each time he failed. Reading the papers, I read hundreds of thousands signed petitions to stop the execution, about 800 people protested in front of the prison. Now compare that to the man convicted of killing James Byrd a black man, 13 years ago, their was no petitions to stop it, no FaceBook pages proclaiming his innocence, and around 50 people showed up for the execution, which included media, filmmakers, and a few protesters.

Well, did Mr. Brewer proclaim his innocence and has the evidence supporting his conviction been questioned to such a degree as to raise serious questions regardign his guilt? If so, please provide such information. If not, it isn't a terribly apt comparison.

The death penalty is barbaric.

Have you seen the data on the drugs they're using for the lethal injections?

It will sicken you that a people who pride themselves on their humanity can perpetrate such hideous hatred, cruelty and revenge-based enthusiasm for an outmoded punishment that does not act as a deterrent.

More civilized governments are moving to ban the export of these drugs to the US as result.

I can see that, however was not in the courts that made the decisions. It is very possible, in fact probable, that they have information that is unreported that is not part of the, intentional IMO, effort of the media to proclaim a non-existent "consensus"...

Basically I think it is likely that we are missing a piece of that puzzle, one the media is intentionally keeping from us. There is a reason the courts rejected his appeals and it isn't just because the SCOTUS wants to kill more black people.

Personally, as I have stated myriad times, we should get rid of the death penalty. However, I do not think that proclaiming consensus when there very clearly isn't one is the way to do that.

The reason that the courts didn't stop it is because the only thing the constitution guarantees is "due process." Having received "due process" and been adjudged guilty, Troy Davis unfortunately wasn't entitled to anything more, even if he was factually innocent.

And that's a travesty.

Again Dixie, you have the probable truth and even the words in your pinhead bias post.

"I can tell you about that 'brotherhood'... if someone kills one of their own, they are going to bring that individual to justice, they won't be satisfied with, or settle for, anything less."

And the police DECIDED before any trials that individual was guilty. And the 'brotherhood' used 'cajoling', threats and coerced testimonies and eye witness accounts to convict that individual.

Justice is itself the great standing policy of civil society; and any eminent departure from it, under any circumstances, lies under the suspicion of being no policy at all.
