As Nancy Pelosi said, the Democrats have a plan. It's called Medicare.
And as everyone knows, that system is currently severely underfunded and will implode if changes are not made. Like Pelosi, you are an idiot to present that as a viable option.
First, why should the 55 and older be exempt? I thought this was all about shared sacrifice? And if you are 55 and older you may be able to keep your Medicare, but as you get older and older and there are fewer and fewer Medicare participants, good luck finding a doctor that accepts it.
Because if they don't exempt those at or near retirement the Dems will use their typical FEAR MONGERING (just like Mott has done) and pretend 'the evil Reps want to take away Medicare from retirees.'
Again.... Medicare would continue to exist dolt. It is the HOW it is paid for and WHO gets what that would change. As for finding doctors... under the CURRENT system, the number of doctors that accept medicare continues to decline. So again, he is trying to find a way to make the system solvent, which is a far cry from where we are today.
Medicare doesn't continue for those under 55. Just slapping the "Medicare" label on a voucher program doesn't make it Medicare. And the Ryan Plan vouchers do not increase in value in accordance with medical inflation. They increase in accordance with the CPI, which is why old people will end up spending shitloads more on their healthcare under the Ryan Plan than they do now and it is also how the government saves money: it shifts costs to old people (and their families).
Funny, because on Ryan's site, in Ryan's words.... he states it will increase with medial inflation. But I know, we should trust you instead of the man that wrote the bill.
Also, tell us what would change between Medicare today and Medicare under his plan. Your simply saying 'it won't be medicare anymore' doesn't make it so. Yes, he is changing the structure. But again... he is protecting the low income, scaling payments based on need.... what exactly are you opposing?
Maybe in year one (and that's being generous). But because, as mentioned above, the vocuhers increase relative to CPI not medical cost inflation, over time the value of vouchers erode significantly.
According to YOU they do.... according to RYAN they increase based on medical inflation. I linked directly to his site if you wish to read what the man himself states.
It's easy to make Meidcare permanently solvent by ending it.
Ah yes, back to the FEAR MONGERING..... how typically partisan of you.
It doesn't create a safety net. It creates a shitty voucher system that doesn't control costs but just shifts them to seniors and their families. It's like lowering your mortgage payment by not paying the bill.
translation: "my masters told me its shitty, so its shitty! Shitty I tell you!"
