???....perhaps it's just because you're a bit slow today....my point was, the last time the government shut down there was no record of it putting companies out of business.....there is also little liklihood that companies would go out of business if the government shuts down this time....that being said, I would rather the government didn't shut down and it would be a shame if the Democrats were so fucking stupid that they would let it happen just because they weren't willing to do what two thirds of the country are DEMANDING they do.....

yes and this thread is about the possibility that the government will get shut down because of a failure to agree on specific budget cuts....that makes the poll far more relevant than one about peoples opinions of the TEA party.....the request for polls stemmed from Onceler's claim the Republicans were pissing off independents as you might recall.....

A new poll from the Pew Research Center shows that as the visibility of the Tea Party movement has increased over the past year, so have its negatives.

The survey found that currently just 22 percent of respondents "agree" with the Tea Party, while 29 percent said they "disagree."
Another 49 percent said they either had no opinion or hadn't heard of the Tea Party.
The numbers mark a turnaround from November, when Tea Party activists helped Republicans net 63 congressional seats and retake control of the House.

Last fall, 27 percent of those polled said they agreed with the Tea Party's views, compared to just 22 percent who said they disagreed.

I don't know what Obama's position is on the cuts, but the Dems only wanted a spending freeze, and then allowed for 6 billion in cuts. They negotiated all the way up to 33 billion, and at the last minute, agreed to more than 38 billion dollars in cuts.
