Is Islam evil?

http://www2.hu-berlin.de/sexology/ATLAS_EN/html/history_of_marriage_in_western.html

This cite is from the Humboldt University in Berlin. It gives a run down of marriage customs in western civilization. It says:

It was not until the 12th century that a priest became part of the wedding ceremony, and not until the 13th century that he actually took charge of the proceedings. Nevertheless, it remained understood that, even as a sacrament, marriage sprang from the free consent of the two partners, and that therefore neither the parents nor the priest nor the government could affect its validity. It thus became possible for couples to get married secretly if they could not obtain anyone else's approval. It also became possible for very young children to be married, if their parents could coax the necessary consent out of them. Especially aristocratic families often took advantage of this possibility when they found a politically advantageous match for their little sons or daughters. On the average, however, males married in their mid-twenties, and females in their early teens (i.e., soon after their first menstruation).

Which is what I said several posts ago... but if you need Germans to confirm it for you so be it... friggin lawyers...

Im not a christian, but the faith itself does not explicitly teach that it must be the law of the land. Islam does teach that. This is only relevant if the actual teachings matter to you.
Teachings are changing and a few Christian fundamentalist use the Old Testament teaching to re-enforce their violent acts. The Christian Patriot come to mind. These groups use to be fringe groups but we see their ideas creeping into the mainstream more all the time. The appearance of guns at certain rallies is becoming more popular along with the demonization of group, in this case, liberals.

The use of violence as a conversion tool has gone in and out of style in Western Christianity.

The teachings aren't changing. They're practicing taquiyah, or the practice of lying about their beliefs to facilitate their theocratic agenda.

And christian citing the old testament aren't even practicing christianity, they're just ger toshav, noahide imbeciles.

Exactly, but they think they are practicing Christianity, they include the OT in their holy book, if they were truly Christian, they would not use it, but hey, I didn't make the rules, they did.

There are Christians who do believe it is alright to lie in order to do god's will. I was reading about them recently in a book called, "The Family" by Jeff Sharlet

There are also factions that would very much like to have a holy war between Islam and Christianity.

I try to be aware of all the factions that want to turn my secular government into a theocracy.

But you still seem unable to be truthful about islam. Authority figures are whitewashing islam to the public so we will fall for their theocracy. Radical christians are largely marginalized and degraded publicly.

Which is a bigger threat, a theocratic movement authority figures will identify, or one they won't?

A, I don't think anything, anyone can say will be enough for you. I find ALL forms of fundamentalism and fascism, totalitarianism too a threat, especially to someone like myself who is a woman and a liberal woman who likes her freedom and doesn't think I should be subjugated by any man! or government. What truth have I not told about Islam? I would like to see all religions have to hide in the closet or done away with for all times, but that isn't realistic, so I just pay attention to all factions and make sure they aren't coming after my rights. I am sorry that I am not zealous enough in my hate towards Islam for you, I will try and work on it, but I am one who believes in "live and let live" and I try to practice "do no harm", but I do what I can to keep the nuts at bay, ALL of them!

I just think you're overemphasizing the threat from christianity and de-emphasizing the threat from islam.

Which is more dangerous, a theocratic threat which leaders will identify, or one they whitewash and deny?

The one the identify is Islam, the one they deny, Christianity, or do you see it the other way around?

I see it the other way around. They constantly refer to islam as the religion of peace, and are quick to jump on a christian who wants to burn a quaran.

You must have shit in your eyes or something. Trying blinking hard a couple times to dislodge the matter and see clearly.

Everybody here considers the Taliban or the Iranian regime to be horrific theocrats.

But we don’t live in Afghanistan or Iran, do we?

I also don’t think most people would be comfortable living in the Christian theocratic state of the Vatican, and working tirelessly to cover up child rape.

Amazingly Asshat, I put more credibility in demonstrable and measurable facts, than in NeoCon rhetorical blather.

Here’s my evidence that in America, fundamentalist Christianity is more of a threat to freedom and secularism, than are American muslims.

The Republican party, on behalf of their fundamentalist Christian base have….

1) Tried to amend the constitution to require prayer in schools
2) Worked feverishly to use our State and federal legislatures to restrict a woman’s right to reproductive choice
3) Worked feverishly to use the legislatures to limit contraceptive availability and choice. (e.g, RU-482 pills)
4) Tried to introduce biblical teachings into science classes, by putting creationism and intelligent design in public school science classes.
5) Have worked feverishly to outlaw gay marriage, restrict gays from serving in the military, and restricted gays from adopting children.
6) Have worked feverishly to put Christian symbols on taxpayer funded public property and government buildings.
7) Fought tooth and nail against stem cell research

What’s your list of measurable and significant actions that American muslims have taken through legislatures and through national or state policy to restrict the civil rights of Americans, restrict medical science, or to dilute science education?

Oh, you don’t have any?

That’s what I thought.

So is there a reason you and your republican crybaby buddies are pissing your diapers about Sharia law and American muslim community centers? Or do republicans just willingly allow themselves to be frightened of things that don’t actually exist, nor can plausibly be expected to ever exist? Aka., like ground zero mosques, Iraqi WMD, and sharia law in America……..

Sheesh man, what’s next on the plate of fear? The GOP has used the muslim card, the black card, and the Hispanic card as wedge issues to frighten conservative dupes. What’s next? The horrific threat, and eco-fascism of the Wiccan religion?

Blah blah blah. The truth of islam really bugs you, doesn't it.

"But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."
Qur’an 9:5

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
Qur’an 9:29

No, I just move from your post to someone else's ;) that is how I get the shit out of my eyes on here!

We can have a battle of cherry-picked quotes from every holy book there is, and nobody will be the winner.

Just think. When rabid righties were trying to whitewash bush's Iraq-WMD blunder by saying that we got rid of the horrible dictator Saddam, they were in effect stating that Islam is worth fighting for.

Especially given the fact that Saddam's revolutionary Ba'ath Party espoused secular pan-Arabism, economic modernization, and Arab socialism, not theocracy.

our authority figures are still lying about islam. that's why it's so dangerous.

Cherry picked?

Saddam was a totalitarian. ARAB socialism? is that what you call dictatorship?

The religion being sold as a religion of peace when it is clearly a religion of war is the one to fear.

The one being whitewashed by authority figures is the one to fear th most.

You do not fear us enough.

Islam is under attack from America and their Zionist lapdogs.

The U.S. has more innocent Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non-Muslims.
