Upcoming election…

I want to defer to you since you live there, but I looked it up and what I found was the last Republican Senator was elected in 1972. That was they year of my birth, 53 years ago. How is it possible they've had as many Republican Senators as Democratic Senators in that time?
That's when I graduated from HS...yikes...has it been 53 years? Seems like yesterday we had the 50th year reunion...;)

I'm not sure about an election bloodbath, but I expect that the (D)s will do well next year. Do you think Trump will try to cancel the midterms?

Countdown till our creepy stalker shows up with NewsmaxBrand(tm) RW talking points in 4...3...2...1... lol
He will not "cancel" them, but already is trying to do everything to suppress the vote and manipulate it.

Redistricting and sending federal agents to "monitor" liberal voting areas.

Everything's black or white to magas. They have no concept

I don't follow baseball, Mr. Earl, but I heard this morning that the game went 18 innings! :eek2:
Indeed it did and I lasted til the 17th inning.

Yes, our former Braves first baseman, Freddie Freeman, had a walk off homer in the bottom of the 18th.

I think you are right about us thinking in terms of black and white but there isn’t much nuance about Mamdani.

He is a Muslim who will not denounce the global intifada and is friends with a terrorist.

Do you live in the northeast?

If, so, who do you believe will win NJ?

I haven't followed the NJ race at all, Mr. Earl. I don't even know who's running.

Citation?

And he is being elected mayor of a very unique city, how can you claim he is a symbol of the the Democratic party?

I believe I mentioned that it's been sometime....My sister an her family moved right after 9/11, do there was really no reason to visit anymore... Why do you ask?
Because you seem to have opinions about its current state, and I was seeking to determine how you know about its current state.

Have I said anything that wasn't accurate? Though I did incorrectly assume Mama's was still operational...:(
"Mamma Leone's restaurant in New York City closed in 1994 due to high rent and other costs. The restaurant's owner at the time, Restaurant Associates, cited these rising expenses as the reason for shutting down the location.
High costs: The primary reason for closure was the high rent and other associated operating costs.
Condo craze: The Manhattan real estate market's "condo craze" also played a significant role, as land became more valuable for new developments.
Location: The restaurant's final location was at 261 West 44th Street in the Theater District.

People who live in shitholes who say they're afraid to walk their hoard of dogs at certain hours because of drug dealers "on every corner" probably should STFU about NYC. Statistically it is one of the safest cities in this country. It is a world powerhouse of commerce and trade. It has one of the most diverse populations on Earth. It is everything their shitholes are not, and they hate that and wish for its destruction. They've been wishing for that since I was old enough to follow politics.
There are really two discussions to be had.

One comes from people who’ve never been there or are just arguing along partisan lines. The other comes from people who live there or visit often.

Obviously, the better perspective comes from the latter group. And like San Francisco, New York has its ebbs and flows.

I haven’t been to NYC in years, but we get a lot of bi-coastal people in SF so I hear plenty of opinions. I’ve heard some genuine concern about the state of the city. Not in the sense that it’s going back to the late ’70s or gritty ’80s, or that people shouldn’t visit, but more as a comparison to how it was during the Bloomberg years.

Plenty of restaurants are thriving in NYC, maybe Mamma Leone's was no longer surviving in the Capitalist system?

Controversy has surrounded New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani regarding his association with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, a figure accused of being a "terrorist sympathizer"
. In October 2025, the Republican National Committee released a blog post criticizing Mamdani for "proudly pos[ing] with a known terrorist sympathizer" and "prais[ing] Wahhaj as 'one of the nation's foremost Muslim leaders'".

If the Democrats go any further to the left, they will embrace cannibalism.

Do you believe San Fransisco is the shithole as portrayed in Conservative media.

When I tell certain people I am visiting the city, or that my daughter will likely be attending Berkeley, they go off about the dangers and depravity.

I'm sure there are...
But New York is nothing like it was, and that's the reason people are getting out...
Anyone with a shred of sense knows that Mamdani can't stand behind what he promises...
Pitiful liar, is he...

Everything changes and evolves.

The fact of change is one of the few things that does not change.
