Upcoming election…

Do you think the five boroughs of New York City are representative of the United States of America? I think it’s one of the areas most unlike the rest of the country. I know you live in the bay area, do you think what goes on in San Francisco? Politics is representative of the rest of the country?
No, I didn't say NYC represents the entire country. I'm saying because it's NYC, the national media and Democratic party figures pay attention to what happens there.

And this isn't your traditional Democratic-Republican race. This is an establishment Dem vs a socialist Dem which is why it's drawing so much attention. A high profile race like helps determine how the Democratic party defines itself. It's why so many people in the party are speaking out.

Democrats will (very likely) elect two centrist governors, a socialist mayor, and approve a California ballot measure to mirror Trumps redistricting moves…

A blue wave for sure….

What’s the only thing the Trumppers will talk about!

Radical Democrats elect a socialist.

What will be the reality??

Democrats are a big tent party that elected two moderate governors!!!!

And;

Republicans LOSE bigly!

I'm not sure about an election bloodbath, but I expect that the (D)s will do well next year. Do you think Trump will try to cancel the midterms?

Countdown till our creepy stalker shows up with NewsmaxBrand(tm) RW talking points in 4...3...2...1... lol

You will not win over the receptionist with logic and facts.

A while actually... My sister was with a law firm in the city for quite some time... But now there is no reason to visit... It's exactly as portrayed on television and the news.... Going down hill fast... People are fleeing for a reason.... And it will only get worse... New York deserves better don't you think? If Mondami wins It's going to get really ugly.. And they can't afford to lose anymore , people are businesses... Didn't Kathy say no new taxes?

One would think that an actual "teacher" could tell the difference between, say, FL and CA and NYS.

I have been regularly visiting Manhattan since I was 23 years old, always ride the subway, never worry about crime, not an inch, and never once been a victim
People who live in shitholes who say they're afraid to walk their hoard of dogs at certain hours because of drug dealers "on every corner" probably should STFU about NYC. Statistically it is one of the safest cities in this country. It is a world powerhouse of commerce and trade. It has one of the most diverse populations on Earth. It is everything their shitholes are not, and they hate that and wish for its destruction. They've been wishing for that since I was old enough to follow politics.

It doesn’t get talked about here, but plenty of Democrats around the country are discussing the NYC race and what it means.

How Mamdani’s Brooklyn Became the Heart of the Democrats’ Civil War

Progressives have turned the New York City borough into a battleground between the center and left wings of the party

I follow a lot of Democratic commentators, and I’ve seen real concern about this race and how it feeds the perception that the party’s moving too far left. Outside of political junkies or people who live in the state, no one across the country really cares who wins the NJ or Virginia governor’s race. But NYC gets attention.

Republicans were never going to win the mayor’s race, but politically they might “WIN bigly” if Mamdani does.

In politics all that matters is winning. But if you want to channel your CNN inner analyst, New Jersey is a blue state so it's not a surprise a Democrat will be Governor. What may be surprising though is the margin of victory, and that it will be much closer than expected.

Virginia has been trending blue for awhile. And historically the party out of power in D.C. benefits in the state. So it will likely be a pick up for the Dems but it's not some major upset.
Re: New Jersey, in the past 40+ years there have been as many repub governors as Dem. You can't take it for granted that a Dem will be elected.

I do ....they should make me a mod... I'd make the rules actually work for this place...;)
Indeed.

Most forum owners want as many clicks as possible to increase the advertising rates.

They allow the rules to be broken, over and over.

The rules are just there for show.
