Polls Show Majority of Gazans Were Against Breaking Ceasefire; Hamas and Hezbollah Unpopular Among Key Arab Publics

According to the latest Washington Institute polling, conducted in July 2023, Hamas’s decision to break the ceasefire was not a popular move. While the majority of Gazans (65%) did think it likely that there would be “a large military conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza” this year, a similar percentage (62%) supported Hamas maintaining a ceasefire with Israel. Moreover, half (50%) agreed with the following proposal: “Hamas should stop calling for Israel’s destruction, and instead accept a permanent two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.” Moreover, across the region, Hamas has lost popularity over time among many Arab publics. This decline in popularity may have been one of the motivating factors behind the group’s decision to attack.

In fact, Gazan frustration with Hamas governance is clear; most Gazans expressed a preference for PA administration and security officials over Hamas—the majority of Gazans (70%) supported a proposal of the PA sending “officials and security officers to Gaza to take over the administration there, with Hamas giving up separate armed units,” including 47% who strongly agreed. Nor is this a new view—this proposal has had majority support in Gaza since first polled by The Washington Institute in 2014.

Hamas had a war with the PA and kicked them out of GAZA

That is why we do not have them.

Borders? Under Biden I'd agree... We're up to something just over 6 million new illegal entries since Biden took office. That's almost a 2% increase in population for the US. That is, just during Biden's time in office 2 out of 100 people in America came in in the last three years and did so illegally. Hell, by the time Biden leaves office, at the rate they're pouring in there will be more illegals during his four years entering the US than the population of New York City, America's largest urban area...

Then they shouldn't allow the schools to teach their kids to hate and murder the Jews. This is an inevitable consequence. At this point if they stay they are choosing to be human shields for Hamas. At this point Israel is doing the Palestinians a favor by removing their overlords.

The PA were and are pigs, remember them hijacking a cruise ship and throwing an elderly Jewish man in a wheel chair overboard

Leon Klinghoffer

(September 24, 1916 – October 8, 1985) was an American man who was shot, killed and thrown overboard from the cruise ship Achille Lauro by members of the Palestinian Liberation Front who hijacked the ship in 1985.

As H dawg said At this point what does it even matter. Never let a good crisis go to waste. This is the best chance to get rid of Gaza and remove the Palestinians from there while imposing harsher conditions on the other Palestinians. It would be disrespectful to the 100 or so dead Israelis not to use this opportunity to the fullest.

Most Germans didn't support Hitler invading Poland and starting WW 2...

Most Russians didn't support Stalin invading Finland...

The problem is, when a authoritarian, dictatorial, government gets in charge you don't get a say in what comes next. If that's bad for you, it's just your tough luck that you got stuck with a government that sucks and likely was voted in by people too greedy and stupid to see through the asshole promises of those now in charge...

Israel just suffered a 9/11, a Pearl Harbor.

I think Israel already has the perfect meme for this...

Hello... My name is the Israeli Defense Force. You killed my father, prepare to die...

My response is better.

U lose yet again.

Why would anyone in Gaza support what Hamas did in slaughtering Israeli women and children, beheading babies? The raid made no sense at all. Which raises the question why did they do it when the hell they could expect in return would be a hundred times
more terrible? It was a planned attack.

There is something we're missing.

They've been raised from cradle to grave to hate Jews. "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free" means "Kill the Jews".

Hamas controls the government with 74 seats. It only takes 67 seats to control the government.

Consider our own election in 2020; Biden wins with 51.3% of the vote. If he starts a war with Canada, do all Americans pay the price or only those who voted for him?

Legislative elections were held in the Palestinian territories on 25 January 2006 in order to elect the second Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), the legislature of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). The result was a victory for Hamas, contesting under the list name of Change and Reform, which received 44.45% of the vote and won 74 of the 132 seats, whilst the ruling Fatah received 41.43% of the vote and won 45 seats.

Yes, I know. Same question.

You're expecting a rational answer from a suicide cult bent on destroying Israel. Why would the majority elect Hamas when they knew the Hamas agenda was to attack Israel?

Like 9/11, the audacity of the 0ctober 7th attack was surprising, but it should be no surprise to anyone in Gaza or elsewhere that Hamas has continually attacked Israel since they've been in power over the past 17 years.
