Will Gaetz Be Successful in Ousting McCarthy?

I believe there would be threats for sure.

I noticed that the gatherings outside of trump's court appearances are fizzling out. I believe Jan. 6 prosecutions are the reason.

I'm not sure if threats are serious anymore.

But yes...McTrumpy is spineless. So he would give up the Speaker's gavel rather than meet Democrats' demands?

I'm gonna need more popcorn than I originally thought.

The GOP has all but ceded total power to the trumptard/maga base. There is no more governing, there is only gridlock and seeking to harm Democrats politically/revenge.

Because it makes hundreds of millions of dollars for trump.

Every other business venture of his has failed.

In a normal world, you would be right. McCarthy cannot afford to lose one seat, though. Which is why Santos is still there.

I don't know what Gaetz's district looks like, but would a Republican be guaranteed to replace him in a special election?

In Florduh? If it's a state where the governor appoints the Rep who dies or is expelled mid-term, DeSatan will surely appoint a maga.

In the House, the governor of the state is required to hold a special election within 14 days.

I assume it's only in the ousted Rep's district.

the Dem's were considering some form of deal to help McCarthy finish the term, when they worked together to do the CR.

But then McCarthy walked right out the door, after the Dem's saved his CR, and he blamed them.

he is the scorpion, riding on the frogs back and cannot help himself. He is simply to never be trusted and both republi'cans' and Dem's know it.

Gaetz and MTG will just sit on their hands and let the pro tem speaker lead them... LOL. Seriously. SMH... this is the GOP circling up the firing squad at a time when the GOP should be working together more than ever.

The only reason they won on the last spending vote was because they passed something before the Dems did. Waiting until after and trying to shut it down so you can grandstand is not the way to actually make a difference.

I would be a bit upset if Gaetz were my congresscritter. I get that I want an ideologue, someone to fight for lower spending is important, but I also want effective action not grandstanding BS that will only serve to help the Ds.

I am shocked the House ousted McCarthy. I'm even more shocked the Dems overwhelmingly voted him out. I honestly don't think Gaetz gave a shit about lower spending. The GOP'ers passed all trump's spending bills. I think all he wanted was screen time. But, as the last 24 hours has proven, I could be wrong.

Yep, it'll be another MAGA. But we've yet to see if the house will oust Gaetz. I don't think they will, but as my OP has proven - I can be wrong! I never thought the house would oust McCarthy - and I think the Dems voting him out was just an FU to the magas. The Dems know he'll just be replaced by another spinless trumptard.

They voted on party lines. They would rather the House be shut down than the republicans be able to pass a working budget in 45 days, they think they can "blame it on the republicans"... however they voted to shut down congress today, every D in congress voted with 8 republicans to literally shut down work in the House of Representatives.

Well, that's disappointing.

The House long ago offloaded most of their work to Deep State...the bureaucrats unaccountable to the people....to open more time for searching for donations and playing their juvenile political games.

I'm a Deep State recruiter.

Interesting. He got what he wanted; his souvenir gavel and his portrait in the hallway. Why jump back into a hornet's nest?

You think the portrait will remain up? Is Newt's still up there? Who's the other guy they ousted - the one who was accusing Clinton of adultery while committing adultery? Can't remember his name. Also Dennis Hastert - went to prison.

My guess is yes. Pelosi's portrait should still be there too with the other ex-Speakers.

No, I think they'll vote against Gaetz, hence McCarthy will keep the gavel.

I understand why the Dems voted to oust McCarthy now. According to Jesse Watters - if you agree with Jesse Watters - McCarthy was the House's best GOP fundraiser. It was about kneecapping the GOP. Fine by me. The GOP can't govern.
