Will Gaetz Be Successful in Ousting McCarthy?

AOC and a few others in her gang would vote to get rid of McTrumpy

You really think so? I don't know. Who would they vote for in his place? McCarthy, although he has no spine is one of the less-insane GOP'ers. Maybe Crenshaw? You think Crenshaw of TX would even want it, though?

OH!! Maybe Tulsi Gabbard!!!!! LOL :)

Honestly, I don't know of anyone, GOP or Dem who would want the speakership now other than McCarthy.

McCarthy is powerless to stop the impeachment. Dems know that. Who else would be speaker? The GOP's not going to allow a Dem to get the gavel. It's McCarthy's. He's the only one who wants it.
Why can't McTrumpy just end the inquiry? I believe he has the power to do that.

I agree that Dems don't want someone worse than this buffoon. And mainstream Republicans probably wouldn't vote for one of the other MAGA loons who would be up for a vote.

Not sure who they would put up, but AOC has already stated that she would dump McCarthy

Without a deal to end the inquiry, they would all vote for Jeffries again.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a resolution late Monday to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker, setting up a likely showdown vote in the House in the days ahead.

The far-right Republican from Florida has for months threatened to use the procedural tool — called a motion to vacate — to try to strip McCarthy of his office. Those threats escalated over the weekend after McCarthy relied on Democrats to provide the necessary votes to fund the government."

Will McCarthy be ousted? Poll to come:

I voted yes. Let the MAGAt implosion begin. :D

McCarthy will get death threats if he ends the inquiry. Why do you think he flip-flopped so hard after 1/6? McCarthy's spineless. The maga base wants revenge. McCarthy wouldn't dare end the inquiry - it might mean his very life. I'm not exaggerating - I truly believe there are nut jobs that will go after him or his family if he wavers on the impeachment.

Before McCarty became speaker of the House I was not in favor of him. I sorta like Gaetz. Now I like the job McCarty has done so far. I have developed a dislike for Gaetz

Who else would want it? And who else would get the votes? You think the GOP would vote for Gaetz or MTG? I don't think so, as messed up as the GOP is now, I think most of them are still sane.

A Democrat.

IIRC, it would only take 5 Republicans to cross the line if all the Democrats united behind a single candidate. It will be interesting to watch how it all pans out.

I just cannot see any Republican voting for a Democrat as speaker. That would be ceding too much power.

Letting the MAGAts win might be worse for the Republican Party.

It only takes 5:

Democratic Party (212)
Congressional Progressive Caucus (99)
New Democrat Coalition (94)
Blue Dog Coalition (10)
Other Democrats (8)

Vacant (1)
Vacant (1)

Republican Party (222)
Other Republicans (20)
Republican Study Committee (156)
Freedom Caucus (46)

Maybe a few Republicans consider a two-year setback worth the price for killing off the Party of Trump in Congress.

Or, in an end-around, the house might vote to expel Gaetz!

"House GOP members are preparing a motion to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., amid his renewed threat to pursue a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

The House Republican members will seek to expel Gaetz if the ethics committee report comes back with findings of guilt, Fox News has learned. One member told Fox News the report is mostly written but does not know what it contains. Yet following threats to vacate McCarthy, the member said of Gaetz, "No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals."

It takes a two-thirds vote to expel."

That would be a good thing for America!

That and his sex investigation would be enough.

Gaetz should be in prison right now for trafficking an underage girl across state lines. He is controlled, nothing he does is real nor does it matter...he is owned.

I believe there would be threats for sure.

I noticed that the gatherings outside of trump's court appearances are fizzling out. I believe Jan. 6 prosecutions are the reason.

I'm not sure if threats are serious anymore.

But yes...McTrumpy is spineless. So he would give up the Speaker's gavel rather than meet Democrats' demands?

I'm gonna need more popcorn than I originally thought.
