Will Gaetz Be Successful in Ousting McCarthy?

I believe there would be threats for sure.

I noticed that the gatherings outside of trump's court appearances are fizzling out. I believe Jan. 6 prosecutions are the reason.

I'm not sure if threats are serious anymore.

But yes...McTrumpy is spineless. So he would give up the Speaker's gavel rather than meet Democrats' demands?

I'm gonna need more popcorn than I originally thought.

Agreed. Lots of keyboard warriors for Trump but very few willing to risk their freedom with violence in the streets. Maybe they remember how Trump threw all the 1/6 idiots under the bus?

Or, in an end-around, the house might vote to expel Gaetz!

"House GOP members are preparing a motion to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., amid his renewed threat to pursue a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

The House Republican members will seek to expel Gaetz if the ethics committee report comes back with findings of guilt, Fox News has learned. One member told Fox News the report is mostly written but does not know what it contains. Yet following threats to vacate McCarthy, the member said of Gaetz, "No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals."

It takes a two-thirds vote to expel."

That would be a good thing for America!
In a normal world, you would be right. McCarthy cannot afford to lose one seat, though. Which is why Santos is still there.

I don't know what Gaetz's district looks like, but would a Republican be guaranteed to replace him in a special election?

Before McCarty became speaker of the House I was not in favor of him. I sorta like Gaetz. Now I like the job McCarty has done so far. I have developed a dislike for Gaetz

So many call McCarthy a RINO, yet he is the first speaker in my lifetime to propose an 18% CUT in spending. Not a reduction in increases, an actual reduction in spending. Sounds pretty damned conservative to me. And Gaetz voted against that?

Who else would want it? And who else would get the votes? You think the GOP would vote for Gaetz or MTG? I don't think so, as messed up as the GOP is now, I think most of them are still sane.

You keep lying about MTG - you seem obsessed.

Are you stalking her? You are a creep, you seem like you could be dangerous.

Oh my, the ChiCom troll is enraged...
Speaking of enraged...LOL

"WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a resolution late Monday to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker, setting up a likely showdown vote in the House in the days ahead.

The far-right Republican from Florida has for months threatened to use the procedural tool — called a motion to vacate — to try to strip McCarthy of his office. Those threats escalated over the weekend after McCarthy relied on Democrats to provide the necessary votes to fund the government."

Will McCarthy be ousted? Poll to come:

The MAGAts got their wish: McCarthy is out 216-210. Now what? LOL

(I cheated on the poll and voted YES after watching the news today. lol)

As for McCarthy, couldn't have happened to a better loser.

I'm concerned he is influenced by Google. His roommate in DC is a Goggle lobbyist.

Gaetz and MTG will just sit on their hands and let the pro tem speaker lead them... LOL. Seriously. SMH... this is the GOP circling up the firing squad at a time when the GOP should be working together more than ever.

The only reason they won on the last spending vote was because they passed something before the Dems did. Waiting until after and trying to shut it down so you can grandstand is not the way to actually make a difference.

I would be a bit upset if Gaetz were my congresscritter. I get that I want an ideologue, someone to fight for lower spending is important, but I also want effective action not grandstanding BS that will only serve to help the Ds.

Should be, yes, but they won't. Ever since Republicans began attacking other Republicans over 25 years ago with the RINO term, the Republican Party has been eating itself alive.

They are destroying themselves. Mainly it's the Alt-Right radicals who are doing the destruction, but the Republican Civil War has now achieved a bit of history; they booted out their own Speaker. Worse, they did it without a replacement in sight. Like Trump himself, the Alt-Right loves chaos and now they've thrown the House into chaos.

Mr. Tiny Penis, you might have to pare down the 70,000,000 Trump supporters you want shot to something a bit less. Care to give us a number?

I think Gaetz is saying that he thinks it will fail, but he thinks that some Ds will vote for him and thus prove that he's "their Speaker and not mine!"

He keeps saying those exact words, which pretty much tells me that Gaetz thinks he'll still be Speaker, just without Gaetz's vote this time.

Nope

Feel free to quote where I want 70M Trump supporters shot, Herr Winziger Schwanz.

How many other winziger schwanzs were sitting with you at your computer? Do you hold each other's schwanzs for comfort?

it took 15 votes for McCarthy to ooze into the seat. Now he has a few who got him in, kicking him out. How does any red get the speakership? How does anyone? It looks like a new candidate will need Dem votes. That means making concessions.
This was a bad move by the Trumpys.

Gaetz should be in prison right now for trafficking an underage girl across state lines. He is controlled, nothing he does is real nor does it matter...he is owned.

Unfortunately, McCarthy's deal to become speaker included the agreement it would only take one Rep to bring up the motion to vacate. Even Gaetz would have a say - that is unless the House expels Gaetz first - which I understand is a possibility.
