An air of dignity based on clothing is silly elitism.
Even if the prejudice toward a casually dressed person were valid, is it not the persons choice still?

Maybe a free person choses to be scorned by those he believes to be snobs.

Depends on the wedding, Ive been to one in shorts, at the beach where the bride and groom wore bathing suits.

BUT my point is that just because I would dress in a suit for most weddings, does not mean I agree with a law requiring certain attire. I believe in freedom.

Showing respect by requiring people not to look like slobs is not elitism. Would you go to court in a wife beater and a Speedo?

I would not go to court in a wife beater or speedo, because I understand peoples prejudice and I do not want my clients or myself to suffer such prejudice.

I think I should be legally allowed to go to court dressed any way I please.

Respect has nothing to do with clothing, in my opinion. Some of the most disrespectful people I have ever met wore suits everyday, they often get away with their disrespect due to people's stupid bias toward them because they have a suit. Some of the best dressed lawyers I know are pure scoundrels, they dress well to take advantage of people like you who think it equals dignity or respect or something.

So a judge wearing a robe to help show neutrality is just silly elitism.

Populism isn't a virtue to me, Jarod.
Everyone should strive to be elite.

We can't all accomplishment it,
but it's the effort that makes us superior to Joe Sixpack.

When we see the typical Joe Sixpack wearing his MAGA cap,
we say to ourselves,

"I'm better than you
and you know it!"

Isn't that true of most quality people?

No, I think the robe for neutrality is different, but I know a few judges who do not wear them and I do not care. In fact one of our best judges does not wear one.

I like the robe, but do not believe it should be required.

I agree with your points, my usage of the word elitism is more properly written as "false Elitism" or "fake Elitism", because you are correct being elite is not a bad thing and something we should strive for.

I disagree with the notion that ones clothing should be used to judge how elite he is. Unless its a fashion show.

I asked a question... I'm sorry that you felt that it was not appropriate... when you were asked something similar though you replied that you would not wear a tire that was not appropriate for the occasion... and made some excuse that you were doing it so that you wouldn't embarrass your clients.... that's a complete cop out...

You are a fool who is confusing a dress code with making a choice. A dress code limits freedom, just because I chose to dress in a way that fits the code, does not mean I agree there should be a dress code.
