Fla man shooting neighbor may be self defense WHOOPS

Exactly, a beef winding up with one person dead, you see it too often in the news, the disgruntled employee, pissed off boyfriend, without the gun so easily assessable others might be alive today

And if georgie porgie fentanyl had gotten into the police car he would be smoking crack and threatening pregnant women today.

When I first heard him on the news describing how the guy kept coming at him, I thought that it sounded like a case of self defense.

But still, he should've called the police instead of handling it himself.

This is a good example of how having a gun helps to create a violent situation and outcome that would probably have been handled by the authorities otherwise.

Gives one a sense of bravado.

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Deflection off the facts, typical, America doesn’t lead all developed nations in levels of gun violence because threatening pregnant women

all of your points are valid.......but hypothetical..........I can only give an opinion based on the facts laid out, not make assumptions.

The facts are the homeowner approached a man with a running chainsaw. He pointed a weapon at the man and told him to leave. The man refused and approached with a deadly weapon - the chainsaw - in hand.

I know that Edward Druzolowski is white. The article I read doesn't mention Ford's race, but if Ford were preferred they would lead with calling Druzolowski a white supremacist - so I assume Ford was also white. Druzolowski stated that he had not had encounters with Ford in the past. He stated he didn't call police because the police in his area don't respond.

'he pointed a weapon at the man'..............that was the single point of failure in the whole episode........he wasn't being advanced upon yet, therefore he had no legal justification to point a weapon at the man. I know y'all want to come down on the side of self defense............but the second he pointed his firearm, he was the threat, not the other way around.

The fact is the guy was on his old man's property with weapons... Told to get off his property more than once and advanced towards him

The guy had every right to order him off his property even at gun point!

He said he expected the man to stop. He should not have pulled until the point where he was afraid of serious bodily harm or death.

Correct - that's what the CCW classes teach.

We had a Sheriff, Sandra Hutchenson, who approved CCW's for citizens - but it still required classes (and follow up every four years.)

Cops have guns drawn before they reach the car if the guy in car could be a threat

The cop in DC had his gun drawn and pointed while telling Ashil to stop

Ford had a duty to retreat, Druzolowski did not. The law will side with Druzolowski on the shooting, but I could see a brandishing charge against him.

An age advantage does the same thing. So liberals want to defund the police but still call on them to resolve problems.

Show me where I've ever called for defunding the police.

Ya, Call the police they MIGHT be there in a matter of a few minutes unless you live in a democrat controlled city and then they won't even bother.

DeLeon Springs is not a Democrat controlled city.

It's not a city or town or municipality of any kind, period.

It is an unincorporated area of Volusia County.

You have the right to defend your property

You don't have the right to shoot someone just for being on it.

The gun didn't create the violent situation, the dickhead who was trespassing and not doing as the property owner asked is what created the violent situation. I'm not sure why you people insist on excusing shitty behavior.

I never said the gun created anything.

Its presence helped create the violent situation because it made the shooter feel empowered and fearless of a younger, larger man.

Guess Trayvon Martin should have ran and called police instead of handling it himself.

Yes, he should have.

Why, do think I'd disagree with that?

Only if it is established that Ford was threatening Druzolowski.

Druzolowski did not have the right to shoot Ford just for refusing to get out of his yard.

He was shot for approaching towards him and not stopping when warned

Go to your local police station chainsaw and knifes in hand start cutting down trees on their property.. when approached by cops and told to stop you cuss them and move towards them...see what happens

Only if it is established that Ford was threatening Druzolowski.

Druzolowski did not have the right to shoot Ford just for refusing to get out of his yard.

The Florida castle doctrine holds that if Druzolowski felt threatened he had the right to shoot. Further, he didn't shoot because Ford refused to leave, according to his statement, but because Ford advance on him in a menacing way.
