A 5500w 240v electric water heater requires 30 amps and 10 gauge wire according to the user manual
1 - 30A GFCI Circuit Breaker - $150 ($285 for one at Graybar without commercial discount)
60' of 3/4" conduit - $100 (1/2" conduit will work according to code)
misc conduit connectors - $50
200' of 10gauge wire - $200 (Home Depot sells it for $.31 per ft)
Assorted wire connectors - $20
Grand total for all the electrical materials needed - $520
I don't get to $1000 and I have all my wire, conduit and the breaker.
I can get 250' of MC 10/3 from Grainger for $350 or 125' of MC 10/3 from Home Depot for $259.
