No comment on the hyperbole of your fellow right-wing hacks?

Why, that's shocking!

its the NYT silly....did you actually click the link...did you actually read it, did you actually note how clintons "almost" bow broke 200 years of state department admonishment against bowing?

also, clinton admin officials stated that presidents do not bow

no surprise you ignore the fact there was outrage over clinton's almost bow, while you complain about outrage over obama, now twice, bows....

i've already addressed those photos more than once....i would be interested to see you actually respond to the controversy surrounding another democrat president who almost bowed....hey, maybe i could use the leftie tactic of crying racism over the disparity in treatment, clinton is white

(yawn)

Your argument is that the same idiots that criticized Clinton for a bow are now criticizing Obama for a bow? You still know nothing about the Orient, and 200 years ago their knowledge of the customs of the Orient was equal to yours.
Has anybody told you that you seem obsessed with racism as an issue? Nobody introduces it into more posts than do you.

This is a long thread. Have the Liberals here admitted that their messiah fucked up big time? He embarrassed the civilized world.

And the defense mounts. Somebody said something about your messiah so you have to come in here and slope your forehead all over us. If Bush had done this you and your pals would have been all over him like stink at a pig farm, instead he has a "D" we should defend it at all costs! The only people who will be "impressed" by this in the US are the people who already would vote for him even if he slaughtered the Thanksgiving turkey instead of giving it a pardon. There is nothing it can do to help him.

"A sin"? That's just more of your silly fantasy like all those supposed people that thought Bush was a God for rubbing Merkle's shoulders.

Nobody thinks it is a "sin" that's just inanity flowing from the fingers of a partisan protecting his party interests, it simply shows a lack of protocol comprehension that has been apparent in this Administration. Once excoriated in a previous President now lauded in this one.

The pictures of over 45 world leaders meeting the Emperor and not bowing juxtaposed with Obama's behind sticking in the air are pretty much the tell. World leaders do not bow to Emperors.

The reality is, this Administration simply doesn't know enough to do this job well at this time, and it becomes apparent with DVDs (incorrectly formatted) as gifts, iPods to Queens, Bows to tyrants and Emperors...

It burns you all that we have two Presidents in a row who make fools of themselves on the International stage, and one of them is your messiah. I get that. But it is what it is, no matter how much lipstick you try to slap on it.

Really??

Nobody thinks it's bad?

You might want to let SM know that, he seems to be under the impression it was a pretty big deal.

YouTube- Obama Bows to Japanese Emperor Akihito

if its tradition, why did only obama bow

Because the Emperor does not bow. Until MacArthur the Emperor was a deity, the tradition of formality continues and Obama shows knowledge and respect for centuries old Japanese tradition. I suppose had he massaged the Emperor's shoulders, your side would be miraculously silent, but then again, he might have been wearing the wrong tie.
It is the stupidity of this phoney, contrived, Fox controversy that will truly inform the Japanese of who their friends really are.

I'm fairly new to this board, but I'm reasonably confident that the balance in your last sentence is a fairly recent developement. When did your "burns" begin? I would like to see back into the marvy bush days what your opinions were at that time in threads concerning Ministerial massages, lip kisses, Presidential bows and hand holding, etc.
As for the rest of it it, I have stated what I feel is the stupidity of the contrived Fox "controversy" and still wonder about the insecurity of those so enraged, even though the "controversy" could bring an incredulous reaction from the Japanese People wondering about our arrogance and...........stupidity.

And it doesn't really bother you that other posters suggested this would make us subservient to Japan and cede American authority on the world stage to that country?

why do you have lie, nobody said that

If he was going to bow, to show "respect", then he showed have bowed no lower then on an eye level with the Emperor and should have kept eye contact through the entire process.

We haven't "ceded" any authority; but it does make the US look subserviant. :palm:

Sorry yurt, somebody has...

Wrong, it's acceptable from the Right because, as everyone knows, you can't spell "hyperbole" without REP.

They were much the same as here, it's bad protocol, and make him look foolish.

Even in the face of evidence that this isn't just a "fox" thing or even "new" you still refuse to see that it is simply a gaffe, and that it would be best to simply acknowledge and move on rather than trying to support it as if the man can do no wrong.

He needs a bit of protocol lessons, I hear he has the ability to learn which is unlike (according to some lefties) a previous President who seemed to continue the gaffes as a matter of practice. I'd prefer he get those lessons sooner rather than later and before he starts on the next nation so he can just stop prostrating before anybody with a title.

All are stills, no chance of selective editing? By the way, you have expressed no opinion of the bows other Presidents since Ike except for Obama and Clinton. Why am I not surprised?

because you're a biased lefty...

and you must of course assume its biased and of course continue to ingore that i have expressed opinions on the other bows....

since i've told you previously that i have given my opinion, i want to give you the benefit of the doubt you forgot, however, anymore claims that i have expressed no opinion by you will be entirely dishonest

and why i am not surprised that you ignore that it is not tradition to bow and even clintons half bow had both the dems and repubs outraged, yet you act like its only the right that is outraged over bows....

Sorry yurt, somebody has...

since you've been honest with me....please reread my sentence and onceler's claim....you will find i never made the claim that onceler claims some mysterious poster made

he said "make"

i said "look"

do you see the difference? it is the same as the NYT describing clinton looking obeisant to the japanese emporer in 1994....it doesn't mean he made the US cede power or subservient, rather gave the look of it...

if what i said wasn't clear, that was my meaning

this is so patently false....

as if this is the ONLY thing people have criticized obama for....

you're either very dishonest or simply having fun playing the hack...which is it?

How many posts on this issue? Commercials on this issue would be a great sign for Obama's chances at reelection!
