Correct. A system that was set up to avoid rule by the majority has become rule by minority. So it's better for the minority to oppress the majority? That's how we lost Roe.

Hmmm...there are thousands of women who disagree right now.The idea of people living their entire lives out where they were born is over. State boundaries are meaningless.

We are a democracy, which means rule by the people. No nation on earth has ever even aspired to be a pure democracy. False problem.
People's Democratic Republic of Algeria
Congo, Democratic Republic of the
East Timor – Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
Korea, North – Democratic People's Republic of Korea
Laos – Lao People's Democratic Republic
Nepal – Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
São Tomé and Príncipe – Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe
Sri Lanka – Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
Notice a trend?
Ergo, a popular vote would allow ten states to dominate the other forty. Tyranny of the majority.
Think this through: California as the most people but not more people than Texas & Florida.
Besides, do you really think the 3/4s of the US states would ratify an amendment to eliminate the EC?
Agreed. My point was that an electoral vote win with only12 states is still a majority of the population. The poster I was responding to seemed to be saying winning with 12 states would not be fair because it is such a small number.
That's just a sophomoric dodge. If Americans in rural areas don't count for all intents, they aren't being represented. If a president is only beholden to those in dense urban areas, the rest don't count. It isn't just the states that get screwed, it's people living in low density rural areas as well. You are arguing that those who count live in high rise apartments in places like NYC and those that live in somewhere like Podunk Idaho don't.
Probably for the same reason that states who have 5 times the population of states with more cows than humans, get the same two votes in the Senate.
You are advocating for rule by minority, which is no better than rule by majority. Maybe worse
So it's better for the minority to oppress the majority? That's how we lost Roe.
Or, radical Leftists like Obama or Biden...
Correct. A system that was set up to avoid rule by the majority has become rule by minority.
Winston Churchill once famously said that democracy was ‘the worst form of government.’
Shoot the wolf in the head.
Constitutional issues are not based on public opinion. Was Roe originally supported by the majority?
Not sure what you're asking, but close to 70% of voters want abortion to be legal.
Under whom we had 8 years of peace and prosperity each. Under Clinton we actually balanced the budget and created a surplus which Bush quickly squandered on two never-ending wars.
Hardly. Obama continued numerous quasi-wars in the middle East and became infamous for his use of cruise missiles on "terrorist" targets. Clinton had Kosovo and then the debacle in Somalia (aka Blackhawk Down), as well as being infamous for "drive-by" cruise missile attacks on various targets.
As for balancing the budget, that was a combination of a Republican congress and a major drawdown due to the collapse of the Soviet Union and end of the Cold War by Reagan. Clinton was savvy enough to go along rather than move the money saved into new spending. His going along with Republican led reductions in endless welfare programs (eg., work-fare) also helped.
You really have no understanding of history...
he's the president of all Americans.....not just the ones who live in California and New York.....Because the President is President of all Americans. Not just the states.
States don't vote. People do.
Because that would represent the will of the majority.
