Yeah, I don't understand that fine either. The judge must have gone by some kind of precedent. Even 10 times that wouldn't hurt Bannon. He's a rich fuck as well as a fascist, racist, traitor.
Buzzword fallacies.

When he actually serves a day I'll be surprised!
If this was any other country, Trump and his whole gang of criminals would be strung up by now!
Fact is the law doesn't apply to the rich and powerful in America!
Another byproduct of Corporate Capitalism
Still imagining some kind of 'crime', eh?
Not sure what that's supposed to mean. But I guess so.Originally Posted by Taichiliberal View Post

You probably think OJ is innocent too.
There is no one i can recall that ever served time for Contempt of Congress.

It is doubtful he will try to escape, so they are unlikely to put him somewhere where too much effort is spent to hold him in. They are going to put with non-violent criminals, but sometimes a violent criminal is mixed in with the non-violent criminals.
For the most part, 4 months of minimum security detention is not pleasant, but certainly not the worst thing that can happen. Most Americans would gladly serve his four months if when they were released they would have his money.

Hello Walt,
I don't think most people want more money that bad. Most people know big money can cause more problems than it solves. Freedom is worth more than that.
Many might think they want big money. But they have no idea of what could happen from all the baggage that comes with it. A lot of stress and not that much more happiness. Happiness can't be bought. Once one has plenty of money to be comfortable and some discretionary over that, they are as happy as they are ever going to be. Bigger money over that will not make them happier.
why are you destroying our country?.....
I'm not so sure. America is a consumerist society. Every member of this forum who grew up listening to the radio or watching TV has been inundated with commercials emphasizing that they need the products of the sell.
Want to prove you're a success? You need a high-end car in excess of reliable transportation.
Want to prove you're a good parent? Shower your kids with the latest, most expensive toys then spend another 20 hours a week at work paying for them.
Want to prove your love to a spouse? Buy them jewelry or any other material possession they desire.
I have no doubt most members of this forum would spend four months in prison for a million dollar payday at the end of it. In short, as we're seeing on JPP every day, most Americans will sell their freedom for material gain.
Is it really a surprise that so many in such a society would sell out their country for a billion dollar payday?
Because I'm not!

Congress should be treated in the same way as a dog treats a lamp post, Bannon should piss on them long and hard. The loss of both houses to the GOP will ensure that he'll serve no time.Originally Posted by dukkha View Post

A judge has sentenced former Trump political adviser Steve Bannon to 4 months incarceration and a $6,500 fine for criminal contempt of Congress. The judge says he's prepared to let Bannon remain free while he appeals his convictions as Bannon is unlikely to flee or pose a danger to the community.
Bannon flouted demands for documents and testimony from the panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Lawmakers on the House Select Committee wanted to know why he said a day before the siege that "all hell is going to break loose tomorrow."
Federal prosecutors were seeking what they describe as a "severe" penalty: six months in jail and a fine of $200,000. In court papers earlier this week, they said Bannon pursued "a bad faith strategy of defiance and contempt."
Bannon sat quietly and did not react as asked U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols delivered the sentence.

Note this was a Trump appointed judge too?!!
So anyone who does not comply with congress from now on should be indicted correct?
