Steve Bannon sentenced to 4 months in prison for flouting House Jan. 6 panel

When he actually serves a day I'll be surprised!
If this was any other country, Trump and his whole gang of criminals would be strung up by now!
Fact is the law doesn't apply to the rich and powerful in America!
Another byproduct of Corporate Capitalism

Still imagining some kind of 'crime', eh?

The red or scarlet scare amounts to the stench of a toxic consideration of pollution upon humanity and nature. Earth as seen from outer space has a blue brilliance to it, and not some deplorable and rancid scab of a toxic nature of red on its solar system and galactic appearance.

There is no one i can recall that ever served time for Contempt of Congress.
DC is swamp

Congress should be treated in the same way as a dog treats a lamp post, Bannon should piss on them long and hard. The loss of both houses to the GOP will ensure that he'll serve no time.

Hello Walt,

It is doubtful he will try to escape, so they are unlikely to put him somewhere where too much effort is spent to hold him in. They are going to put with non-violent criminals, but sometimes a violent criminal is mixed in with the non-violent criminals.

For the most part, 4 months of minimum security detention is not pleasant, but certainly not the worst thing that can happen. Most Americans would gladly serve his four months if when they were released they would have his money.

I don't think most people want more money that bad. Most people know big money can cause more problems than it solves. Freedom is worth more than that.

Many might think they want big money. But they have no idea of what could happen from all the baggage that comes with it. A lot of stress and not that much more happiness. Happiness can't be bought. Once one has plenty of money to be comfortable and some discretionary over that, they are as happy as they are ever going to be. Bigger money over that will not make them happier.

I'm not so sure. America is a consumerist society. Every member of this forum who grew up listening to the radio or watching TV has been inundated with commercials emphasizing that they need the products of the sell.

Want to prove you're a success? You need a high-end car in excess of reliable transportation.

Want to prove you're a good parent? Shower your kids with the latest, most expensive toys then spend another 20 hours a week at work paying for them.

Want to prove your love to a spouse? Buy them jewelry or any other material possession they desire.

I have no doubt most members of this forum would spend four months in prison for a million dollar payday at the end of it. In short, as we're seeing on JPP every day, most Americans will sell their freedom for material gain.

Is it really a surprise that so many in such a society would sell out their country for a billion dollar payday?

Let’s remember

Most didn’t vote for trump

Republicans lie and cheat to fool Americans

Just like the corporations who tell people they NEED shit to feel complete

Most Americans don’t like Republican policy

It’s why republicans have to lie and cheat

Look at all the republicans Claiming the results of policy they voted against

They lie non stop to voters

No, that's the shallow life. Nobody has to prove they are successful. Show you are successful by being happy, social and never needing to ask anybody for favors. Drive an affordable car that does the job and concern yourself more with what you are going to do when you complete your drive.

Nobody has to prove they are a good parent; just be one. Shower your kids with attention, respect and encouragement. Care for them.

Any spouse that needs your love proven is not a good spouse. He or she should be able to see it in the things you do and share.

I'm sure some would do as you say but I think most people value their freedom in general and would not willingly spend any time in prison for a monetary reward. When people are happy they don't need big money. Big money won't make them any happier. What it might actually do is add a lot of unneeded stress.

And about the consumerist thing: Not everybody is inundated with commercials. It is possible to largely eliminate them from modern life. There are plenty of great ways to be entertained without the commercial media. And even if you say most people watch commercial media, I'm not so sure. What is commercial viewership on any given day/evening?

50 million?

We are almost 340 million in America.

I understand what you are saying, but anyone with a job is selling their time for money. They are literally giving up time, to get money, which can buy all sorts of things. The amount of time Bannon is giving up is just four months (for now), which does not seem that bad. Bad things could happen to him in jail, but that is far from definite.

Put another way, it works out to a little under 2,000 waking hours, which is about the time of a full time job for a year. Plenty of people work a job they dislike for a year.

Yet your flabby fascist ass is in Thailand (military gov't/monarchy your thing?)....being an armchair warrior on the net with no real skin in the game..cheering on the fascist else where.

You're a real piece of work, Primo.

A judge has sentenced former Trump political adviser Steve Bannon to 4 months incarceration and a $6,500 fine for criminal contempt of Congress. The judge says he's prepared to let Bannon remain free while he appeals his convictions as Bannon is unlikely to flee or pose a danger to the community.

Bannon flouted demands for documents and testimony from the panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Lawmakers on the House Select Committee wanted to know why he said a day before the siege that "all hell is going to break loose tomorrow."

Federal prosecutors were seeking what they describe as a "severe" penalty: six months in jail and a fine of $200,000. In court papers earlier this week, they said Bannon pursued "a bad faith strategy of defiance and contempt."

Bannon sat quietly and did not react as asked U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols delivered the sentence.

Note this was a Trump appointed judge too?!!

So anyone who does not comply with congress from now on should be indicted correct?
