VERY common. For all the talk of 'conspiracies' to force people into subservience via trade school, what you mention above is the real conspiracy. I see it all the time. Unqualified people with a degree filling a position that should have been given to someone with the experience to excel.I'm still left wondering how the fuck a degree is required for many jobs. Back in 2009 I was doing a network engineering job for verizon. As a contractor, I had to be let go after 18 months........because of the hard time filling jobs for my position, my supervisor petitioned HR to create a position in my department for me to fill.............HR came back with a degree as a qualification, so I was not going to be hired. It was bewildering, considering that the other members of my team were members I had trained to do the job.........but all of a sudden I wasn't qualified because I didn't have a degree.....................
the job world is fucked in the head............they don't get it yet and people with college degrees still can't do what I do because they don't have the experience I have.
goodbye troll
Agree. But that has nothing to do with this discussion. The ones making money are.

Did they teach you hysterics in college? Which post suggests I resent college 'educated' people?Your resentment of college educated people is obvious. Be happy and quit whining.

You do realize that thousands of students exit college functionally illiterate? You're trying to defend the political ploy to forgive a portion of college debt, but you have to twist yourself into knots in order to justify it. Just admit that it's a way to purchase votes and move on.
I've made much more than $10,000 getting contracts that were paid for by the Obama Stimulus. At least the govt. got something in return for the expenditure. My stepkids are college educated with student debt. This is fantastic for them.
One already voted for Biden, and I hope the other will as well due to this gift.
You did not go to college. Got it.
Nope. Read the thread. You claimed that union tradesmen/women make tons of money, as if the vast majority in the trades are in a union.Sure it does. It is about going in the trades or college.

They are not.
Left after two semesters due to my life experience at the time. And my parents were paying for it.You did not go to college. Got it.
I agree, even though you bashed NY earlier in the thread. They do. Any trade pretty much has a union representing them somewhere. Particularly in blues states and cities.
I agree, even though you bashed NY earlier in the thread.
But the South is Right To Work, which accounts for a lot of jobs in the trades. And quite frankly, there are more non union tradesmen/women than union in Blue states too. Very few small businesses are union, unless they are forced to be by a large company that awards them a contract.
Your postion proves that people in the trades can earn quite a bit of money via a union job. Pay/Bennies/Pension are all very valuable.

And still, I'm just as successful as you are, and highly respected in my field. And MUCH more successful than my sister who spent nearly a decade in college. As is my younger sister who never went to college
Go figure.
You bring up excellent points. I thought this article addresses what you’re talking about pretty well.

really don't care
how's that sand smell, with your head buried so deep in to it?
Certainly not me. My kid’s an FAA licensed aircraft mechanic with FedEx. I taught him what bill shit smells like.$10,000 worth. Could be worse.
It has been mentioned that there 'are no useless degrees' because of the lessons learned in the college experience.
As if there is no life experience out in the unsheltered real world. Sure...a 4 year party is lots of fun. In the past parents would send their kids off to college, and were happy to pay for it.
That's not a problem if they don't work in the field they majored in. Or if they didn't even need to get a degree for the job they have. The parents believed that it was worth the money to let the kid have a vacation.
Who does that hurt?
