Supreme Court takes up case of a coach and his prayers on 50-yard line

Why don't you read the goddam story I posted, you bullshitting buffoon.
I did. it's all kind of competing interests, split decisions, amicus briefs and allegation Kennedy changed his story.
So the sane thing to do is listen to the orals - especaily since you show no ability to understand
even the outline of the appeal

bye troll

I will never understand what football has to do with religion. You are asking God to smote your enemies?!

As the colorful Al McGuire used to comment when he saw a kid make the sign of the cross before a foul shot, "I think God has more important things to do than interfere in a basketball game"

It will be very interesting to me if these conservative judges believe in a living changing constitution when faced with a conservative cause that would require it.

You are right, puts them in a bit of a bind, guarantee they will come out with some nebulous ruling that doesn't resolve anything but gives the right wing media enough content to frame the decision as a victory

And this is nothing compared to the guns and abortion decisions due out in June

but does the kid have the right to do so? is the question
It's like going to war and praying for victory, while the other side does the same
"who is on God's side") ( salafist jihadi will justify Allah to kill even)

God doesn't intervene in human affairs, but humans of faith still pray -even at football games

nobody really knows. there is a cornucopia of issues to settle - so a narrow ruling might not be possible

a group of Satanists demanded equal access to the field.

This case involves a bit more than some kid making the sign of the cross prior to a foul shot

"Kennedy began giving motivational speeches that included prayer and religious content. Kennedy alleged that he never required or asked any student to pray or participate in any religious activity. School principal John Polm later testified that a parent complained about the prayers, stating that his son felt compelled to participate or risk losing playing time during games (https://ballotpedia.org/Kennedy_v._Bremerton_School_District)

ya i know..i was simply responding to your post.

I read the link and issues -they are myriad as were the appeals -so there is no point in trying to cherry pick out a point or 2.
It depends on what turns the case of course...but it has all the ingredients for a wider ruling with so many issues a narrow ruling might not address

When I was public school student, decades ago, we were required to stand up for 'prayer' each morning at homeroom. It went from being called prayer, to silent meditation, to silent time....

Rightfully eliminated as a religious ritual.

These Court decisions may turn out to play a role in next November's elections. If the conservative Court gets orthodox it would be a boost to the Democrat's effort to turn out the vote

maybe i heard the same thing about abortion, Afghan and Ukraine and gawd knows what else

My personal opinion is the economy cuts thru all that - people are HURTING and they are pissed
Thing like Diz.CRT drive Republicans as well..

Still i think more then ever "it's the economy stupid" is the mantra in play

you don't need to change the constitution to find that freedom of religion actually means one can freely be religious......

Nonetheless, Kennedy v. Bremerton School District arrives before the justices Monday. It brings vexing questions about the ability of public employees to live out their faith while on duty and the government’s competing responsibility to protect schoolchildren from coercion and to remain neutral on the subject of religion.

The case offers a court that has recently been overwhelmingly protective of religious rights the chance to transform decades of Supreme Court jurisprudence that started 60 years ago with the admonition that government cannot organize and promote prayer in public schools.

Public school teachers prayed with us and nobody complained. It was already banned, but none of us students cared, fuck the banning bastards. We actually loved it, tbh.

Yeah, kids from all over the city were in that classroom

Everyone was Americans though, so that was OK. It was the gifted program. In the AM I'd catch the bus and we'd ride for like an hour and a half picking up kids from all over the city. There were black gifted students, yes.

It was the bus ride from hell.

Probably in a ratio right around what the black population in America is.

Never let these racists tell you that black people can't be smart. I for one, know better.

Bobby Bowden prayed with his team all the time. They won a lot, too.

The next one that calls me racist, or white supremacist, can go fuck themselves with a cactus. Thanks to my Alabama friend SFC.

I guarantee you leftist pieces of shit would not last 30 minutes in Allapattah or Brownsville. I could walk around there like I owned it. That's because I know how to do things.

The prayers were COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY.

READ THE 1st AMENDMENT.

IT DOESN'T SAY THAT THE FREE PRACTICE OF RELIGIION SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, "UNLESS IT MAKES THE LEFTIDIOTS MAD".
Good to see that you support kneeling during the anthem.

Welcome to the real world
