Disney does not get to tax you - Orange County does
If Orange County now gets to tax Disney more - I see no reason to wring my hands and cry about how this will mean more taxes for me
logic is not your strong suit apparently

It's not just Disney. Your governor is about to undo a number of similar agreements.
In this instance I think it benefits the state to allow Disney to incur all costs associated with running such an empire. Now the state will foot the bill unless they back down and come to their senses during negotiations.
The vast majority of Republicans in the legislature don't even understand the nuances here. They just know 'Fuck Disney'.
Don’t worry, it won’t happen, all a deflection to draw attention away from his gerrymandering to include eliminating black districts

Even when he signs it it would take over a year to work out and enact, meaning there will be ample room to amend and revise. Besides, aren’t there numerous similar special arrangements made with other special Districts throughout Florida, the Villages coming to mind, if it applies to Disney’s situation why wouldn’t it apply elsewhere
[FONT=&]Florida Governor Ron DeSantis proposed yet another strike in the battle against The Walt Disney Company on Tuesday, announcing that the Florida Legislature will take up a bill this week to strip Disney of its self-governing status, and experts believe the move would likely not affect Disney's business in a big way.

[FONT=&]Talk of revoking Disney's special status began shortly after DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education legislation, commonly known as the "Don't Say Gay," law into effect on March 28. The controversial legislation bans public school teachers from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity with students between the ages of 5 to 9.

[FONT=&]In a statement after the legislation was signed, The Walt Disney Company said that the bill "should never have passed and should never have been signed into law" and announced it would try to help get it repealed.

[FONT=&]On Tuesday, DeSantis said he planned to dismantle the Reedy Creek Improvement Act of 1967, which gave Disney self-governing authority and has benefited the entertainment conglomerate for decades.

[FONT=&]Chris Lyon, an attorney and lobbyist who deals with special districts, told Politico, "Right now [Disney] can do almost anything a county or city can do, except do things like make arrests. All that would all come under review. Lawmakers could decide if they want to give them those powers moving forward."

[FONT=&]The act states that Disney is able to appoint the government responsible for regulating its property and can impose taxes on the land and run its government services with the revenue it gains from those taxes. According to Florida Politics, Disney has its own fire protection, utilities and planning, and security services.

Yep. It's rare for anybody on the Right to research an issue before they act.
They currently brag about DeSantis killing 35,000 people last summer with his anti Covid antics.
Private entities are now going to flock to Florida knowing that if you don’t pay homage to the Governor you stand a good chance of being singled out and attacked

And it wasn’t that long ago that the right told anyone who would listen that the less Government the better

When moronic state legislatures use kneejerk legislation for political purposes, they don't take the time to think anything through.
With Disney governing it's property, it incurs debt and borrows via bonds to pay said debt.
Now Fla taxpayers will foot the bill for countless millions because Disney criticized the homophobia that runs rampant in the state's govt..
They'll see the folly of their idiotic actions over the course of the next year as the details are negotiated with Disney.
Wrong; it will lead to more tax revenue. This affects Disneyland not the County.![]()

yea more taxes and more employees to maintain it

love it. I hope Disney escalates and threatens the state further
Dissolving the district would mean Reedy Creek employees and infrastructure would be absorbed by the local counties, which would then become responsible for all municipal services.![]()
I thought you leftist hacks in the Democratic Party of Lying Jackasses loved higher taxes. Not to worry sad sack; the increased taxes will be paid for by the fools visiting the new WOKE Dizzyland.![]()
Threatens them with what?
I agree. Let them hit the road.union walkouts have been one threat. ending all political contributions another. I hope they go nuclear and threaten to leave the state over this. the babies can take their ball and go home for all I care.
