Russian commander killed by own troops

At least in Iraq, even when the WMDs didn't show up, a very corrupt and evil dictator was erased from history.

It is extremely laughable to paint the democratically-elected Zalenskyy as the drug addled leader of a cabal of Nazis.

It's gaslighting and projection. I guess we all now know who trained Pedo Don, eh?

Hard to penetrate the Kremlin walls to know what Vlad is thinking.

He obviously needs some kind of win with this. Starving and shelling Ukrainian cities into submission may seem to him to create an advantageous bargaining position.

No doubt the Russian military will figure out a way. :)

even most russians seem to know that. hard to believe any world leader, outside trump when he was somehow president, would be stupid enough to start such a useless, immoral, illegal war knowing that world opinion would be so strongly united against it. bush did it but we are way more powerful than russia.
Like trump, Putin is deranged. We cannot expect anything rational to come from his office. Bush was an idiot who was electable, and then let the criminals run the nation.

We're all banking on the top Russian brass to step up and get rid of Putin. Meanwhile, the damage is growing like cancer.

I understand, but Iraq wasn't all that different from America. If you had the money, you could buy your way out of a prison sentence. If you didn't, you rotted away or were murdered by the regime. The wealth gap was identical to that in this nation, although we suppress our population with money, not rape/prison.

I don't believe our soldiers gave a fuck about how evil Hussein was. If that were the case, they would be in Saudi Arabia, Syria, etc..

I wouldn't know, but I believe if you asked a member of Seal Team 6 whether they would feel better about killing a drug lord or evil dictator, versus killing the democratically elected leader of a European nation, they wouldn't have to think very long about it.

These same Russian troops who are performing so poorly in Ukraine would probably fight more effectively if they felt their cause was just.

It worked for him in the past, but he wasn't going up against the entire free world.

A Russian brigade commander in Ukraine has died after being run down with a tank by his own mutinous troops, it was revealed today.

Western officials believe Colonel Yuri Medvedev was brutally taken out after his 37th Motor Rifle Brigade suffered huge losses.

I wonder how much intelligence and special forces the US is providing the Ukrainian army. I have a feeling it's a lot and of course, it's being done covertly. But I bet a lot of European governments and militaries are helping out the Ukrainians covertly, providing them with drones, arms and intelligence. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are some US SEALS working with the Ukrainian army. Again, covertly of course.

I was in the street protesting the Iraq War.

I was talking about from the perspective of an American soldier asked to risk their life. All other things being equal, I would feel better about risking my life to erase an evil dictator, than be asked to wage war to remove a democratically elected, legitimate sovereign government.

i understand that. but if we are going to invade countries based on how screwed up their leaders are, back in 2003, iraq would have been way down the list. so that does not justify it at all and we were wrong 100%.

I don’t think he cares. I wonder if he really is sick and since he has nothing to lose, he’s committing suicide of sorts? It otherwise makes no sense.
There are a lot of reports that cannot be verified, but there are a number of issues that he might or might not be suffering from.

Truth is, he exposed himself as a fool who has been demanding respect for decades that he doesn't deserve.

It vaguely reminds me of the infamous mutinies of Russian soldiers in WW1 when they felt officers were treating them like cannon fodder.

...which they were. LOL

Troops eliminating their own leaders who are too callous with the lives of those under them is an old story. Caligula's death is an ancient example.

Another reason why volunteer troops are more reliable than conscripts.

Agreed on just cause. Also factor belief in one's cultural system. WWII Japanese and Germans, especially the SS, had no problem committing war crimes. The Wehrmacht had more conventional beliefs.

Like America's White Supremacists, the Nazis believed in their racial superiority which gave them the right to murder "mud people". Note which JPP RWers support the mass murder of "libs".

The Japanese, also very racist, were also from a culture that has longer range values than the West. Their belief in their inherent superiority dictated their behavior.

Damn, it took us a lot longer to start fragging officers in VN. This war must be super unpopular.

It's because the Russian troops are being slaughtered due to a lack of supply; they're starving to death, freezing to death and being shot at from every direction by pissed off Ukrainians. What's to love?

The US handed him over to his enemies to be hung. You might call that ' clean hands '- the rest of the world did not.

Translation: The Americans handed Saddam over to the same Iraqis Saddam had abused and terrorized for decades. I hate that! Bring back the Rape Rooms!

You're a sick woman, Ms. Moon.
