Russian commander killed by own troops

I feel bad for the Russians who have to fight this war.

So much of it reminds me of what American troops went through in Vietnam. The whole "why are we even here" mindset....

At least in Iraq, even when the WMDs didn't show up, a very corrupt and evil dictator was erased from history.

It is extremely laughable to paint the democratically-elected Zalenskyy as the drug addled leader of a cabal of Nazis.

Worse than Vietnam. Russian soldiers are killing their own. I was waiting for the troops to begin a rebellion.

We don't care about evil dictators. We tend to install them everywhere, as long as they play ball.

The region needed an evil dictator to keep stability with Iran. The Mid East is a shit show now for the rest of our lives.

he was not as corrupt as evil as most muslim leaders. screw that shit. iraq was one of the most liberal muslim countries and their women had more rights than almost any other.

Everyone discusses Putin escalating into the chemical weapon phase.

He has shown that he's incompetent when it comes to military strategy. Doesn't he realize that chemical weapons will open the door for NATO to respond?

With 100,000 sitting ducks for troops, doesn't he realize that they could all be wiped out in a chemical retaliation?

I was in the street protesting the Iraq War.

I was talking about from the perspective of an American soldier asked to risk their life. All other things being equal, I would feel better about risking my life to erase an evil dictator, than be asked to wage war to remove a democratically elected, legitimate sovereign government.

But for Putin, wiping out any population that doesn't recognize him as the leader of the region is a win. He doesn't care about his troops. I don't even think he cares about an occupation anymore. He's content with genocide.

I don’t think he cares. I wonder if he really is sick and since he has nothing to lose, he’s committing suicide of sorts? It otherwise makes no sense.

I understand, but Iraq wasn't all that different from America. If you had the money, you could buy your way out of a prison sentence. If you didn't, you rotted away or were murdered by the regime. The wealth gap was identical to that in this nation, although we suppress our population with money, not rape/prison.

I don't believe our soldiers gave a fuck about how evil Hussein was. If that were the case, they would be in Saudi Arabia, Syria, etc..

Hard to penetrate the Kremlin walls to know what Vlad is thinking.

He obviously needs some kind of win with this. Starving and shelling Ukrainian cities into submission may seem to him to create an advantageous bargaining position.

even most russians seem to know that. hard to believe any world leader, outside trump when he was somehow president, would be stupid enough to start such a useless, immoral, illegal war knowing that world opinion would be so strongly united against it. bush did it but we are way more powerful than russia.
