The Religious and Gun Violence

Liberals are grandmothers, so why would we hate them? That just doesn't make sense? Who do you think manned all those peace rallies? It was grandmothers! Liberal grandmothers!

Quite the contrary. I have seen several threads on this forum that blamed the lack of religion for numerous problems. And when atheists do something wrong, we see the same old "religion is the foundation of all morality" nonsense.

Where I live now is freer than the US, richer per capita than the US. We have more Rolls Royces, more BMWs, more Ferraris and Maseratis per head of the population than you have. We have free healthcare and the best or next best public transport system in the entire world.
I have NEVER been that afraid of people or governments to want to kill any of them. I have never been attacked nor had ANY of my freedoms taken away from me. I have never fought with anyone save with words nor have I ever run away from anything for nothing has threatened me. I live a comfortable lifestyle, in a warm climate where I have no need of cars or guns.
Where you have a front garden (yard) I have what you see in my avitar.
What do I want that I don't have at present? maybe a bigger house but we have a nice house in the UK, maybe a reduction in the intense humidity we must endure from June to September. That's about it I think.
One thing we don't have that you have in spades, is the false belief that we are somehow special and that we have the right to force our lifestyle down your throats. Our loonies are cared for by hospitals and not allowed to roam free with guns as you are in the US.

Congrats! You have lots of rich people and lots of high dollar cars. That really doesn't impress me.

I have a front yard, a view of a beautiful national forest, and only one visible neighbor. My job has had me working in numerous places with views like your avatar shows. I am happy as can be. I am not forcing anything down anyone's throat. In fact, I have helped fight against that sort of throat forcing.

One big difference between you and me, is that I am not condemning an entire nation based on generalities and stereotypes.

Oh, and the fact that I enjoy shooting and hunting.
 
i bet most of the left wingers here who claim it is only the religious right who are dangerous, use guns, etc....say that it is only a few muslims that are radical....

I do not actually condemn an entire nation based upon its stereotypes. But, since the loony right wing of your country see themselves as almost a different species then they are welcome to believe that I do.
In fact I find many Americans very acceptable (one wouldn't let them in the house of course) and not too unpleasant to pass the time of day with. I tend to recoil somewhat though when, as happened a couple of weeks ago, one greets me with the word "Howdy" and departs with 'Have a nice day'. I have studiously avoided meeting that gentleman again in case he wants to hug me......

Not really, just attempting to take Freud more seriously than any current psychoanalyst does.

I did not expect my flippancy to be taken with even a single pinch of salt.
I think his nephew, Edward Bernays, has a greater significance in today's world.
 
I kept dissing Freud in my PSY 101 class, so the prof asked for a show of hands from anyone who didn't like Freud, and nearly everyone rose their hand. Then I marveled about what a rebel I was.
 
Well, you can say what you want about Sigmund Freuds but i, for one, would not hesitate to consult the good doctor were he still alive and practising today.

Maybe some of his ideas were a little mad but which of you could argue with a man who, whatever the mental ailment one was suffering, would unceasingly choose to prescribe a full course of pure cocaine?

And at least he didn't take to strumping his psychotic patients like that dirty rotter Carl Jungs.

In summary Sigmund Freuds...a good thing.
 
Well you know how relevant psychology is today. What's usually the first question a Psychologist asks after earning his/her PhD? "Would you like fries with that?"
