the problem is is that you've never experienced real freedom, nor have you ever had that real freedom taken away. The founding fathers of this country experienced both, so they specifically wrote the 2nd Amendment to keep arms in the hands of citizens.

The attitude you have is one of submission. The basic idea of which is that you see yourself unable to handle the responsibility of freedom or liberty, nor that of your own safety and protection. Seeing yourself as unable to handle that personal responsibility, you and your countrymen felt it necessary to shove that responsibility and duty on to your government, of which they'll gladly take more powers over you, provided you give up some of your liberties. Faced with the illusionary prospect of a 'safe' society, you gladly gave up your guns so that your police would protect you. You somehow blinded yourself to the fact that criminals don't obey laws and that there are still people who will hurt and kill you just because they can.

I read a story earlier today about how a 42 year old husband and father was stabbed to death in his front yard. Apparently, those in the UK have a compensation policy that if a family member is killed by violence, your family can receive 11,000 pounds as a condolence. This mans family was denied that compensation because the man fought against his attackers. I'm appalled at this callous disregard for this mans family, but am further saddened because it was the cowardice of millions of people, just like you, that allowed this man to be killed and his family to suffer even further.

You can characterize us Americans as crazy, looney, psycho, whatever. We will remain free while you are not.

Dash their heads against the rocks! Who needs guns to kill! it is just a lot easier, you don't have to get so close, you can do it from far away! Funny thing, it doesn't make it any easier, does it. You still live with it afterwards, like my poor hubby.

I think the world would be better off if wars were restricted to pre gun hand weapons. Our new standoff tech and such removes some of the horor of war for the general populace. If the full horror of war was more apparent to all I think we would have less wars.

Where I live now is freer than the US, richer per capita than the US. We have more Rolls Royces, more BMWs, more Ferraris and Maseratis per head of the population than you have. We have free healthcare and the best or next best public transport system in the entire world.
I have NEVER been that afraid of people or governments to want to kill any of them. I have never been attacked nor had ANY of my freedoms taken away from me. I have never fought with anyone save with words nor have I ever run away from anything for nothing has threatened me. I live a comfortable lifestyle, in a warm climate where I have no need of cars or guns.
Where you have a front garden (yard) I have what you see in my avitar.
What do I want that I don't have at present? maybe a bigger house but we have a nice house in the UK, maybe a reduction in the intense humidity we must endure from June to September. That's about it I think.
One thing we don't have that you have in spades, is the false belief that we are somehow special and that we have the right to force our lifestyle down your throats. Our loonies are cared for by hospitals and not allowed to roam free with guns as you are in the US.

Hey, we only got it off the backs of the failed European societies who roped us into two utterly pointless wars of imperialism, then nearly succumbed to failed communist ideology... Then left their crumbled empires in a chaotic mess.

Personally, I would gladly give up American might for not having participated in WWI, and helping to fuck up the world. The war on terror is yet another byproduct of the pathetic Wilson administration.

I care most about our founding principles of government. The American Century already destroyed them. Now you are just complaining about our imperial principles. Principles, btw, that are Wilsonian. If we are to fix it, then we must destroy that legacy, and work to undo all that has led to the present fuck-up. And fyi, leftists are the primary cause of it all. Did anyone on here defend Wilson? Wilson is pretty roundly condemned by everyone with even a cursory level of historical knowledge.

Lets add to the list of things liberals hate:

Grandmothers.
Clean dishes.
Large Screen TVs
