McConnell: Trump is responsible for inciting riot

Hello Darth,

A delay is not an obstruction—it’s a delay. Trump had no intention of ‘stopping’ the vote.

The delay was intended to allow the swing states to review/present their irregularities.

Ridiculous. The time for all of that passed months ago! The time for that had long expired by Jan 6th. Jan 6th was about counting the 50 already-certified elections.

You might think this question is irrelevant but it will come up if there’s ever a criminal trial. Unless the defense is brain dead, they are going to ask the prosecution what Trump’s motive was in ‘inciting’ the riot.

And they won’t be able to simply deflect on it or will be a very short trial.

The answer to that is plain as day. The objective was to prevent Biden's election from being acknowledged by Congress as fully counted. It was the final election action to finalize the results before the inauguration. Even though it was inappropriate to raise any questions about already-certified elections, there was no new evidence, there was simply no other opportunity, so Trump sought to disrupt the proceedings.

Trump was trying to invent an issue where none existed because he didn't want to accept reality.

Makes absolutely no sense.

Why would Trump blow his own plans for that day out of the water? He wanted Pence to *delay* the vote—not cancel the election and take over the government. How was that supposed to work, anyway?

Why would he send his supporters to attempt something that was doomed to fail and result in the destruction of his political career and quite possibly land himself in a federal prison? Makes absolutely no sense.

Stop allowing yourself to be played for a Lemming.

You keep using that word.

I don't think it means what you think it means. As they say.

So if he was trying to disrupt the proceedings—to what end?

What was the endgame? It was a bunch of dead Trump supporters and/or whoever’s along with Trump in a jump suit. It would be a suicide mission. An actual foreign army couldn’t ‘take control’ of the government if they sailed in off the Potomac.

Makes no sense; and the reason it doesn’t, is because it’s a political narrative. They tend to not withstand even casual scrutiny.

You're addressing this like Trump is a rational individual.

Trump is an agent of chaos. He wanted to disrupt for the sake of disrupting.

And he loved the riots. He enjoyed watching them. He couldn't understand why others at the WH weren't excited when they were watching the footage.

Trump didn't understand the Constitution, or much about the transition of power. He really thought Pence had much more than a ceremonial role in the process. His whole thing was just causing disruption and creating as much uncertainty as possible. He would have let Washington burn if it would give him even an extra week as President.

I don't think it means what you think it means. As they say.

Which means either he doesn't know what it means or he's intentionally lying. I'll give Opie credit for not being a lying fuckwad and is simply ignorant. :)

See, that sort of speculation won’t cut it in a court room. The defense would jump up and shout objection your honor and the objection would stand unless the judge is corrupt. You’re not allowed to speculate in front of a jury.

To prosecute a crime you have to posit a ‘coherent’ motive. The defense would *easily* argue that the Capitol riot was a detriment to Trumps objective for that day.

In fact, it benefited Trump’s enemies. That much is inarguable.

I'm not looking to present a case in court.

You asked, I answered.

Of course it doesn't make sense.

Nothing Trump does makes sense to a reasonable person.

It was a desperation move from a crazy president who could not accept defeat.

It makes sense if a person is a narcissistic megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur. ;)

This is the PG-rated portrait. The R-rated portrait Trump has his tiny hands inside his pants.

The Constitution isn't clear which is why the impeachment was voted Constitutional. Someone can argue it with SCOTUS if they like.

Regardless, there was no fucking way the Republicans were going to convict Trump. The reasons remain unclear, but it wasn't because he wasn't guilty or it wasn't appropriate to impeach and convict him.

I will disagree with that Dutch.

Time will tell, Sailor. This isn't just a fluke. It's not just a coincidence. This was a preplanned operation which failed because Trump is a fucking moron and the rioters were under the delusion they could start a civil war.

Be honest, how many of your friends knew something was coming? A few of mine did. They were worried about a civil war starting soon. These are Trump supporters but not insurrection supporters. None that I know about supported overthrowing the US government.

SmarterThanYou was the most vocal insurrectionist on JPP and now he's on the lam. Trinnity and several members of her nutjob forum are facing prosecution.

I'd be surprised if Trump went to jail, but not surprised at all if several WH staffers went away for 20 years.

Time will tell. I highly doubt this is over on both sides by a long shot.

Agreed. What really gets me are the Trump supporters justifying killing and maiming police officers. It just goes to show how hypocritical they are about our nation and the Constitution.

Democrats have no problem with killing and maiming LEO Dutch. They actually applaud it. And act like it is normal. This is what I mean. None of this is over by a long shot.

Disagreed, but I'm curious who in Congress advocates or applauds killing cops. Besides Ted Cruz and a few other Trumpeteers.

Let's say you are 100% correct. How does that justify the attack on the Capitol and attacking, maiming and killing cops?

Just look up 99% of democrat politicians. They cannot erase their history that quick. Until all of the sudden they needed protection. Now we have walls, razor wire and armed troops surrounding our Capitol. Third world shit.
