Russia exponentially smaller in defense spending than us, and we have no reason to have any bases for the most part outside the US.

What war? the one biden will start to get us out of the coming recession when the covid bill is due, or when he feels our division is too great and starts one to unify us.

By the way, I agree we spend (waste) to much in military spending.

de coupling from Yemen means allowing Iran free reign on the Arabian Penninsula.
Not that providing logistics for KSA is a palpable alternative

KSA doesnt use an expeditionary army, and they are trapped being unable to attack the Houthi

Under the plan, troop levels in Germany would drop from 36,000 to just over 24,000, Defense Secretary Esper told reporters, with 5,600 of those re-positioned to other European countries and the remainder shifting to U.S. bases to be determined.

Yes, it does. You claim their guns weren’t loaded, which I doubt is the truth, because they were authorized to use lethal force. They were prepared to do so. They don’t send troops in to use lethal force without loaded guns. It takes a very short amount of time to load a rifle.

None of them were armed.

Because I was a Unit Armorer in three different Mechanized Infantry Companies, so yes I know about the Logistics involved, and yes they can be handed it quickly, heck often the Platoon leaders already have them to distribute.

Active or reserve? This isn't the first time we've used the guard like this. 911 comes to mind, all the guardsman guarding train stations n shit, all unarmed.



So let me ask you. how would you see the situation unfolding where all these guardsmen would have time to go run line up and get ammo? seems wierd to have them all there with carbines but no magazines. why not keep the carbines as well?

Clearly- the scale and violence of the insurrection wasn't anticipated. Whoever refused ammunition probably isn't in his post anymore.
