If masks and other government policies work, how do you explain this?

If this is about California, quit complaining. They have more essential workers providing shit you need than anywhere else in the country. Essentials aren't locked down the way other people are.
 
According to the CDC update from Saturday, California has reported an average of 100.5 daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days, which places it well ahead of second-place Tennessee, which saw an average of 89.6 daily cases per 100,000 residents over the same time period.

California’s daily case-per capita figure is actually down from the 109.3 mark it was at last week, which is likely due to reporting delays caused by the Christmas holiday.

Why is this happening?

California was the first state to shut down in the spring and has had a shutdown in the most seriously affected areas for most of this month.

It seems those measures haven’t worked.

True story,...anyone can look it up if they doubt. In Wisconsin,..many/most of the Sheriff and police dept's have said they will not enforce the Governors restrictions. They see it as unconstitutional. Been like this from the beginning. People here are pretty much doing what they want. Go to bars with no masks, eat out no masks,...shopping, whatever. After our spike which came BEFORE Thanksgiving we have been dropping like a rock in cases. No bump after the Holiday. In fact,... we are literally down like 45%. Hope it holds,.... just reporting whats going on. Lots of people wear masks here.....in stores...... lots of people dont. But when it comes to gatherings, or going out on saturday nights to eat and to your favorite watering hole....... NOBODY is,...pretty much life as it was.

It seems that the most autocratic DEMOCRAT officials don't even believe their own bullshit.
