Schumer wants Biden to use EXECUTIVE ORDER to cancel $50,000 of student debt!!!

Hey stupid. How many times must we explain this.??? THERE IS NOTHING INHERENTLY WRONG WITH EXECUTIVE ORDERS. !!!! They are an essential tool for any president. EOs let a president explain how he is going to enforce a law written by congress. But aunt barry and big mike used EOs to write laws.
It's okay if you don't know. My best guess is that you are a sock for the regular 70+ pathetically lonely old man who posts hate all day long from his one-room apartment at a retirement facility. You're divorced and your kids hate you so much they wouldn't care if you hung yourself by the doorknob 10 minutes from now.

Or is there another reason why you'd spend so many hours each day spreading hate against all who disagree with you? Isn't your failure to consider even your own family's POV why you are estranged from them? Are you really going to die in the next 5-10 years thinking "Those ungrateful assholes can go fuck themselves!!"?

$20 says you haven't sent out a single Christmas card.

The short version of this is: Lighten up, Francis.

It's authoritarianism 101. You ever notice how when we talk about student-loan forgiveness, the Right immediately throws a fit about "feminism studies" or some course of college study that they dislike? It's because the Right are thought police. They want to keep people in low-skill jobs. Dumb, unhealthy, and compliant.

If the Right allows for a nation of college-educated critical thinkers, they're fucked. Their party will never win again. Ever.

Critical thinkers??? HAHAHA. You think a course in Etrrusan Mythology develops critical thinking skills?? Only STEM does that.

A simpler fix would be to end making student debt undischargable in bankruptcy court. A cap on the amount would be reasonable, say $10,000 or $20,000. So, someone with lots of student debt and no way to pay it off could declare bankruptcy and discharge some or all of there student loan debt. Sure, it ruins their credit but that's their problem. That makes this the person who ran up that debt responsible as it should be. Why forgive the debt? There's no reason to.

The problem with allowing a discharge (say $10,000 or $20,000) is "someone" has to pay. Whether in higher tuition costs or higher loan interest fees.
That "someone" always winds up being the ones who DO pay back their loans. Having to pay the inflated fees because of a few freeloaders is not fair.
Most people pay back their loans, usually to establish or keep a good credit rating for when they choose to purchase a car or home. It's all about personal
responsibility.

Being an anti victim is of course not cool to the Victim Culture Cult.

Victims are both the heros and the product of the cult.

See BLM for illustration.

Really?
You should listen to your dear leader?
"We're all victims. Everybody here, all these thousands of people here tonight, they're all victims. Every one of you."

If people didn't use credit, they wouldn't have to worry about their credit rating. I have never bought anything on credit in my life.

Yes, true. But bankruptcy is an allowed legal remedy to discharge debt. Right now, if someone declares bankruptcy, they can discharge loans, credit card bills, mortgages, all sorts of things but not student loan debt. This was supposedly changed by the government because of a myth that students would go to college get an education in say, law, then use their knowledge to declare bankruptcy and get out of the massive loan debt, that sort of thing. I think allowing for some discharge of student loans would be quite reasonable.

Sure, the government eats that since they are generally the guarantor of those loans, but that's far better than a unilateral just writing them off even when many of these loans are being paid on regularly.

I am aware of the bankruptcy laws. Don't you have to at least pay a percentage of the debt plus lawyer and court fees? But yes, you are correct. I just don't think it's fair to the ones who do pay them back.

No. Normally, most personal bankruptcies involve total absolving of the debt to a fixed value. So long as it doesn't exceed that value it's wiped away entirely. Most law firms take a fixed payment from the petitioner before it is settled. That is, you pay your liar... err, lawyer, say $500 or $1000 and that's that. All your debts disappear. You can generally keep certain assets so long as they don't exceed a certain value. So, in most cases, you keep your mostly paid for house, keep your mostly or paid off car, etc.

I think its a great idea,,,,,so long as the order alo says they will reimburse me $50,000 for the student loans I paid for my kids......

My Grand Daughter wanted to follow her dad's footsteps and acquire an electronics engineering degree at ITT! So she secured a huge Student loan and paid her full tuition costs. Well 8 months later the school went bankrupt, and there will be no refunds. WTF is she supposed to do now?

ITT Technical Institute (often shortened to ITT Tech) was a for-profit technical institute. Founded in 1969 and with approximately 130 campuses in 38 states of the United States, ITT Tech was one of the largest for-profit educators in the US before it filed bankrupt and closed in 2016.

Hundreds of thousands of students experienced the same thing! WTF ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?

why do you think I should pay it for her?.......

Do you even still work and pay taxes you miserable old sore-losing fart- You spend every waking moment here making an ass out of yourself!

When do you fucking work?

Do you think I or anyone else should pay for Donald Trump to fly his fat corrupted ass on Air Force One to over 200 Super Spreader events so he can stand up there and lie to his Trumptards about his accomplishments and the virus- When it costs over $60,000 just to crank up Air Force One. Or his several hundred trips every weekend to Mara-Lago to play PUT PUT!l It costs exactly $176,393 per hour to operate Air Force one! Yes, we are talking about billions of dollars to fly that fat ass around the country.

If the USA can throw money away like that, The USA can afford to pay some school loans off.
