COVID - Europe's Success, Trump's Failure

I never thought I would live in a country that had been quarantined off from the world. This is a MASSIVE failure for trump.

Me too.

I never imagined the Republican Party would turn our country into an international pariah and laughing stock.

I know you guys are really hoping that the public will go with that while ignoring the turmoil in places like Portland, but it largely depends on if Antifa will actually back down in time for the elections.

There's another factor that isn't often discussed. In various states like North Carolina, migrant labor is common. Because a large portion of these people are illegals, they don't have health insurance, so they find it difficult to get tested. Meanwhile, they end up spreading the virus throughout their communities and sometimes outside of them. Currently, 45% of all infections in NC are among Latinos. I don't have the exact numbers on how many are illegal, but when considering how the vast majority of new infections in the last month have been in the eastern parts of the state where various farms are, it's pretty clear that a lot of them likely are migrants.

North Carolina is just one of many states facing this dilemma from migrant labor. This isn't as much an issue in Europe. They do have migrant labor as well, but most of it is legal, and they have healthcare systems that actually test everyone that needs to be.

Antifa? Who have they killed? Who runs them? How many members do they have? You rightys lap that up and use it for a boogieman. They practically do not exist. They certainly run nothing in Portland or anywhere else.,

Hello Cypress,

Europe’s Economy to Outpace U.S. in Upending of Past Roles

- Tough lockdowns mean euro area suffered a deeper contraction- But recent measures of activity suggest a stronger recovery-

The euro area economy is for once set for a sprightlier recovery from crisis than the U.S., thanks to starkly different responses to the coronavirus.

America’s failure to get a grip on the pandemic is putting the brakes on its rebound compared with Europe, where many former virus hot spots managed to resume economic activity without causing a similar surge in infections.

Crucial for a sustainable recovery is confidence that the virus is no longer out of control, and Europe’s relative success may help encourage shoppers to spend and businesses to invest, further propelling demand and growth. The region has also done a better job of protecting jobs and incomes, at least for now, with furlough programs keeping millions of workers on payrolls.

According to JPMorgan Chase & Co., Europe will do better because it has “broken the chain” that links mobility and the virus.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has cited effective virus control as one reason it expects a “steeper and smoother rebound in the euro area than elsewhere.”

“It’s very clear that the euro area turned down more sharply but we also expect it to bounce back more sharply,” said Jari Stehn, chief European economist at Goldman Sachs. “It’s pretty rare that the euro area would outgrow the U.S. over a horizon of one to two years.”

A sensible approach listening to science vs a nonsense approach denying the science, trying to cover it up, manipulating the media messaging.

They had a "V" shaped recovery, we seem to be leaning towards a "W."

And we all know how the "W" economy worked out.

Me too.

I never imagined the Republican Party would turn our country into an international pariah and laughing stock.

Trump unleashed a blitz of fail since before day one. It's not just this latest. He never left a single
opportunity on the table to fail spectacularly. They can't blame us. We told them he was unqualified.
Even all the other Republican candidates told them he was unqualified.

The reason we are lagging behind Europe and most of the developed world in addressing the risk of this virus is because people like you and Trump called this a Democratic hoax, said it was no worse than the common cold, that it would disappear like miracle when the weather got warm, and spent the last seven months denying and downplaying the risk of this virus.

You want to go over the history of 2020 again?
Argument by repetition fallacy. Denial of history.

There is no amount of tap dancing, no level of obfuscation, no attempts to misdirect which will change this very simple fact >

Trump totally underestimated the risk and his response to the pandemic was utterly inept.

This is confirmed by the facts on the ground.

Nations in western Europe and East Asia generally have this thing under control and reasonably well managed --- while the pandemic continues to rage here, while Trump was packing people like sardines into sports arenas, and while conservatives still refuse to wear masks and think they are sticking it to libs by going maskless

Not a fact. A fallacy. Denial of history. Learn what 'fact' means. Buzzword fallacy.

Masks do not stop a virus.

The people in other nations will accept the countries plea to wear masks and social distance. In America we have people that think anything the government suggests is an infringement of their rights to act stupidly and dangerously. They are at the level of anti vaxxers. Wear masks and social distance and we can end Corona.

Masks do not stop a virus.
6 feet does not stop a virus.

We're accepting that the UK is no longer ' Europe ', I assume- as the virus reaction there is a total disaster- still.

The UK is in Europe. It is no longer part of the European Union. The Covid19 virus in and of itself is not a disaster anywhere. The panic induced by the media certainly is, tho.

Republicans have made going without masks and packing in like sardines into churches and a sports arena to worship their Orange God a matter of "free choice" and trolling liberals.

Because Republicans have shown they are intent on making the pandemic worse, what we needed was a combination of mandatory social distancing and face masks with fines for those not complying, and we needed to implement the testing and tracking Korea and other countries did

Masks do not stop a virus.
6 feet does not stop a virus.
Testing does not stop an infection.
Tracking does not stop an infection.

Of course, it would. People would be free to use the health system when they begin to feel sick. They would not have to think about the huge costs of treatment and could concentrate on getting better. How many people stayed sick because they cannot afford the price of healthcare? This is normal in America and normal in a Pandemic.

I never thought I would live in a country that had been quarantined off from the world. This is a MASSIVE failure for trump.

Trump did not quarantine the United States off from the world. Trump is a proper noun. It is capitalized. Learn English. It works better.

Antifa is a big part of the rioting in Portland. So is BLM. Both have large numbers in Portland. Both are violent militant organizations funded and supported by the Democrat Party, including Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and AOC.

The UK is in Europe. It is no longer part of the European Union.

'Europe' - the geographical area- didn't have the ' success ' described, you persnickety dumbass- that WAS the EU.

Any more persnickety dumbasses at home who don't think that the virus is a disaster ?

Haw, haw...........................haw.
