^ And this folks, is exhibit A for why conservatives deserve 100 percent of the blame for our nation's inept response to this pandemic.
They refuse to wear masks, they insist COVID is no worse than the common cold, and they refuse to take this risk seriously in the way most nations in Western Europe and East Asia did

What pandemic?
Masks do not stop a virus.
It is worse than the common cold (actually, colds. There are many cold viruses). It is a SARS related virus, previously called a 'flu' virus by the WHO and CDC. These can cause more extensive symptoms and problems than a cold virus. This particular variation, known as Covid19, seems fairly mild. It's infection rate is only about 0.3%, and it has killed no more than 0.02%. That's better than previous SARS and influenza viruses. This particular strain seems to hit the old more than any other age group, which is typical. This is where the deaths are occurring, which is again typical.
When you use the word 'risk', you are speaking of a ratio and probability math. 0.02% death rate isn't a significant risk. Better to watch where you're going when walking across the street and stay out of the war zones within places like Portland, OR or Seattle, WA.
Covid19 is certainly nothing worth panicking over. It is not worth shutting down the economy over it. It is not worth all the fear of it.
You don't get to speak for most or for any nation of Western Europe or East Asia. You only get to speak for you.
Some of these places did nothing. Others panicked. Some hid the data, others less so. A few nations in Asia in particular denied ever being affected by it. You are comparing apples to a thistle.
* Masks do not stop a virus. See the N95 specifications. These are essentially dust masks, designed to stop 95% of particulates down to 3 microns in size. The Covid19 virus is 0.2 microns in size. You are trying to eat your soup with a tea strainer. Cloth masks are even worse. They are about as useful as a 'good luck' talisman. They will not stop you from contracting the virus.
* 6 feet does not stop a virus. Covid19 is airborne. It is everywhere, and on every surface. Like many respiratory viruses, the best defense is to wash your hands, stay home when sick, and otherwise go about your normal routine.
Covid19 does not directly kill. It can induce pneumonia, an opportunistic bacteriological infection of the lung, which can kill. It can also be treated if caught early enough by using aggressive antibiotics. Older people are more susceptible, which is why older people tend to have a bigger problem with it, but it can be treated.
* Plastic barriers set up at cashier stations does not stop a virus. Covid19 is airborne. Air flows around the barrier.
* Plastic baggies some people are putting up on some ATM machines are worse than useless. They make the machine hard to use and are just as contaminated as the naked keyboard itself would be.
The only inept response is panicking when there is no need to. This inept response was made by the media and by certain government funded idiots. Blame them.
