It depends. If there's a vote and then polls suggest that additional votes would likely go the same way, there's no point in holding more votes -- the will of the people has been made clear. But if there were a vote and then the polls showed a strong shift in the opposite direction, it would be foolish to plunge ahead with a change that will have extremely long-lasting and difficult-to-reverse impacts, against the will of the people, don't you think? The Brexiteers are eager to lock-in a mistake. I think that would be dumb.

They'll be distrusted by a large segment of the population one way or the other. I don't think that's it. I suspect that a lot of them are beholden to forces that have made bets that depend on Brexit happening and they're afraid that if they give the people a voice, that won't happen, and that money will be lost.

One possibility is that it might empower the far right, who could do a lot of damage with material like that: "The elites have conspired to thwart the will of the people!"

Right now, the elites are conspiring to thwart the will of the people. The polls clearly show the people want to remain. The elites are trying to force an exit. Those are simply facts.

The Labour Party membership, being young and faced with life in the mess created by this tory crap, is very much for it.
