Looks like Brexit unlikely!

Those who wanted to stay were complacent and turned out in lower numbers than those who wanted to leave. It's a case of the best lacking all conviction while the worst are full of a passionate intensity. Fortunately, since the vote, a significant number of the imbeciles who supported exiting have realized that was an error, so if another vote were held today, the result would go the opposite way, even with the same disproportionate turnout rates.

The political elite -- the majority in Parliament -- has refused to have another vote, so objectively they're in favor of locking in the decision to leave.

If they have a second vote, does this mean the losing side gets a third vote, and maybe a forth and fifth vote??

Where would it end??

I do lol?

How so?

The Republicans went for the racist vote back before Reagan. Surely you know that? Right back in the time of Roosevelt, decent people were moving over to the Democrats in droves. Those who work for Big Business need the racists and any the other mugs they can collect, like the fascists back in the 'thirties.

If you want to know why we are in the state of disarray, then read Richard Littlejohn on the subject.

"The only way a government of national unity could work is if politicians weren’t allowed within a mile of it." :good4u:

What a cast characters he proposed, very funny. I watched an hour or so of the House of Commons yesterday. Who's willing to compromise on what and when, customs issues, trade, etc.
One man (sorry, couldn't catch his name) took more of that sensible "what are we so afraid of" approach mentioning how there would be healthy dependable trade deals with America and made other solid points for leaving. Is there an MV4 coming soon as well? This is nuts...the people already spoke in 2016. Enough already.

The Common Market was a great idea but the EU control freaks want a United States of Europe.

True. In essence turning countries into states. Yet, not "traditional" states as we know them here. When (for arguments sake) Florida wants to write some legislation, enact some law, create some kind of tax, etc., we don't have to get approval from Montana or agreement from Pennsylvania or authorization from a president. But, in effect Britain would have your decisions scrutinized by a Maltese governor and/or approved by a Danish politician...on and on. The "control freaks". That's ridiculous.

The Speaker of the House aka John Bercow is trying to stop another Meaningful Vote, he is an arch-Remainer and a totally biased shitbag. The sooner the arsehole goes the better!

I’m not talking about Reagan lol.

*Democrats* lost the Civil War.

If you want want to discuss more recent history, LBJ was a Democrat and a bigger racist than Trump ever thought about being and he got blacks voting democrat ever since.

Much to the detriment of the black community. If you want to discuss US politics on an US political board—learn your US history.

Exactly!!

They could set up trade deals with the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and several other None EU countries and tell the EU to go fuck themselves. :good4u:

*Democrats* lost the Civil War.

Yeah, and in the 1860's Conservatives were Democrats, and Republicans believed in federal power over the states.

What is the point of saying this if not to paint a false picture of the Democratic Party today based on the history of the parties from 150 years ago?

You love that LBJ quote, don't you?

Here's a quesiton; why didn't Conservatives get on board with Civil Rights if it meant getting more votes?

The answer; Conservatives are racist.

If only the black people would realize that the Republican Party, which gets support from white nationalists, Nazis, and the Klan, had their best interests at heart by opposing the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Of course they have refused to do that. Do you understand why? If they called another in/out referendum, they would be finished both individually and as parties. Many people would never trust establishment politicians again. After that, who knows? One possibility is that it might empower the far right, who could do a lot of damage with material like that: "The elites have conspired to thwart the will of the people!"

Please don't believe everything you hear from liberal commentators in the US media. On this, they don't know it all by a long way.

That's nonsense. The Brits lost all trust in their political elite long ago. Two notable occasions- the promise of no tuition fees for students , actually pledged in public via video before tuition fees were introduced- and Cameron's first betrayal you may remember - " No ifs, no buts- there will be no third runway at Heathrow " Haw, haw.........haw. Then the asshole bombed Syria in defiance of your parliament. The Brits are led by liars and dumping the referendum result would make no difference whatsoever to public opinion of them. The Tory elite are self-serving scum.

Good thing it overcame the democrat led filibuster in the Senate or the bill wouldn’t have passed.

Did I strike a nerve lol?

Jeremy Corben's policy of trying to force a second referendum was in tatters last night when Labour MPs rebelled against the party whip and helped vote down the plan. The Labour leader saw 40 of his MPs either vote against or abstain on the motion for a second referendum.

Which were they - imbeciles full of passionate intensity, or scheming elitists?

Looks like LV lied about who really opposed both; because more Democrats voted against them, then the Republicans.

LV never really did care about facts anyone; because they interfere with his racism and bigotry.

:truestory:

We have so many arrogant arseholes over here who immediately presume they are more intelligent and enlightened than Brexiteers, fuck 'em!

You sound like the nutters who think Hitler was a socialist, strangely supported by Big Business. The Republicans decided there was a future in selling racism to the mugs, and took it over. I know quite enough American History, thanks
