Democrats in trouble?

Yes. In the grand scheme of things lying about a consensual blow job as a non-material witness is trivial and no basis to cause a Constitutional Crisis.

There were two questions. But the notion that it is trivial when a sitting President is getting BJs in the White House is asinine. What would happen to you if you did that at your office?

A criminal referral is trivial?

You always sound so angry. It should be a happy world for you. Kav is going to get confirmed, Trump is President, the GOP controls everything except a few areas on the coasts.

It's like heaven for you righties. Lighten up.

You always try to project your emotions onto my comments. Why is that Thing? I am mocking your ignorance and laughing at you. I know you likely are still broiling over being made to look so foolish yet again, but do try to contain your rage.

35 seats being contested. 26 are held by Democrats.

Still laughing?

That same fact was true three weeks ago when lefties were on here claiming that the dems take back the Senate. That math hasn’t changed

What appears to have changed is the maybe some of you lefties realize how badly the democrats played this

Let’s be clear I called all of this days ago. DAYS AGO.

It’s ok I don’t expect you or GayRod to admit I am right

Do you think McCaskill flips and votes yes? Donnelly? Tester?

Heitkamp and Manchin probably vote yes if all republicans vote yes.

What say you?

You really have to stop w/ the "you" thing. Don't lump me in w/ anyone, unless you can find a post where I claimed - EVER - that Dems would take back the Senate in 2018.

Can you find even one post where I stated that?

I still think Kav getting confirmed is like throwing a match into a bucket of water. But Grind is more tuned into the ways of the right, so he could be correct on the idea of lasting anger from this.

But no one is really talking about how a Kav confirmation will affect the left. It doesn't really exist in a vacuum. The confirmation itself is a transformative event in terms of the dynamics, and I do think it's almost certain he gets confirmed now.

Fucking amazing. Just weeks ago the left was talking about how energized the left would be

Here is the bottom line. Kavanaugh and Fords testimony’s did nothing to change the minds of partisans.

The dems were already pretty fired up. They can’t get MORE fired up

Their one chance was if the GOP base stays home

As Annatta said Kavanaugh has become a rallying cry. It is no longer about whether he will or won’t get confirmed. But “is this what we have to look forward to if democrats have power”

That will be a very powerful argument

Just remember that what you guys are discussing I predicted over a week ago. That is how much smarter I am than you people.

Look, I don't think it's a huge deal. He was just doing his usual riff. But it's silly to claim he wasn't mocking her.

Just own it. He's a mocker - it's part of his schtick. It's embarrassing for anyone to try to deny that was his intent.
he wasn't mocking her, he was mocking her lack of evidence......why is that difficult for you fucking idiots to understand (by the way, that last part?.......that's what it looks like when you get mocked).......

he's just trying to get into the victory friends :)

fucking mobile app.....
I was replying to this....
Exactly. Having said that SF's comment was completely asinine. During the Whitewater and Lewinsky investigations the GOP was willing to precipitate a Constitutional crisis over a triviality that the vast majority of Americans opposed. That certainly didn't stop them.

and I was trying to say Mott is right......Kavanaugh got what he had coming for making Clinton perjure himself back in the 90s......

All this talk of "backlash." Base GOP voters are always angry. They're turning out regardless.

If Kav gets confirmed, what do they complain about? The investigation? That's not lasting anger, imo. I don't see a big difference there.

Is there no "backlash" for Trump & the right once again mocking women and marginalizing the way many are treated?

I'm interested to see what happens. Democrats have far better candidates across the board this year, and people are underestimating voter registration efforts and the raw emotion on the left. I think Democrats take the House, and minimize GOP gains in the Senate.

I like the last part, so republicans end up with 54-46 maybe?
that's the most likely scenario right now.

As far as the house is concerned, who knows really, It wouldn't surprise me either way.

I think what the Dem's did with Kavanaugh was very risky. You mention that Republican voters are already mad, but that doesn't equal turn-out.
You piss us off and yea, like with Trump we do turn out in record numbers.
trumps win emboldened us in that we know what we are capable of if we show up. Even the great Clinton machine, backed by the media, Obama, Hollywood, academia etal could not defeat our anger.

So what do the Dems do? they piss us off right before the mid-terms. I wouldn't be surprised if the republicans in congress didn't want Kavanaugh to be defeated, to guarantee that angry turnout. Sacrifice KAvanaugh for the greater cause. Trump will just put another conservative in anyway.

Not all of White America are Republican
This election it's the women 's vote that will make a difference

sigh......lots of white women voted for dump.

Like I said "And if they are actually voting for them...….that says a lot about white America".

Blacks aren't voting for these racist pigs. So therefore, it's white America and lots of them are republican how else are they staying in office?

The whole blue wave thing was always manufactured bullshit

Republicans at least Trump supporters ALWAYS had a reason to turn out and that is because Trump was keeping his promises.

What Kavanaugh did was engage Trump haters who might have stayed home and actually turned off democrats.

The calculation now is “if this is how democrats act out of power, what the fuck will they do with it”

Again Trump has played them.

I think it is better than 50:50 that Manchin and Heitkamp vote for Kavanaugh at this point.

It will be a real embarrassment for the democrat party if vulnerable dems like McCaskill and Tester reverse course. They are in a real bind now

I think there is a good chance that if Schumer can’t hold the line on democrat defectors that the dem base gets demoralized.

The dems could not have played this worse.

It was always odd to me that NeverTrumpers Cawacko and Threedee really didn’t jump in the fray

I suspect their hatred for Trump is that great they would stand by and watch a good man be destroyed

They are really no better than leftists

A couple days ago I read an great article in the thriving NYT. The article described how the writer saw the political landscape shifting under the Kavanaugh hearings such that helped the Republicans in the Senate and the Democrats in the House. It appears that today the newest batch of polling data is bearing that our. Specific and crucial Senate votes... Missouri, Nevada and Texas specifically. The Republicans were more laid back about this election and they are now angry.

So, their is still a month to go.

We have two broad scenarios ahead of us. Kavanaugh is confirmed or he is not. It seems to me the Republican anger is likely to subside if Kavanaugh is confirmed and the Democratic anger will be stoked that one who many believe to be a serial abuser of woman will be on the Court. For political reasons I suspect the Democrats hope he is not confirmed, yet still the candidates in the Conservative States will be forced to take a side.

My net perspective is that at this point Kavanaugh is helping the Republicans.

I feel fairly certain the Republicans will gain one or two seats in the Senate and lose about 20 in the House. That is as it stands today, but the ground is shifting and who knows where we will stand in November.

Their ship has been foundering and all they do is keeping rearranging the deck chairs.
