South African President Cyril Ramaphosa recently announced plans to allow white people’s land to be taken without compensation, which will then be distributed to black people in a move that he believes will be good for the economy. The president made the announcement late on Tuesday in a televised address to the nation. The farmers have claimed that the government’s plan will be “catastrophic and could lead to anarchy and food shortages like Venezuela or Zimbabwe”.

The economy of Zimbabwe collapsed after their own land reform was carried out. More than 20 years after the end of apartheid in South Africa, white farmers still own the majority of South Africa’s land. An organisation representing South Africans, AfriForum, said that land expropriation with no compensation would have “catastrophic results like in Venezuela and Zimbabwe".

That policy is Not going to attract foreign investors to South Africa.
 
Maybe if you ever watched Trevor Noah, you'd see who the South African leader mirrors. It rhymes with dump, but is somehow worse then one. It's hilarious seeing them side by side, saying the same things on video.

It causes a huge loss in confidence in the legal system when assets are seized without compensation. Plus there are definitely forces in South Africa calling for the seizure of basically all capital and institution of a command economy, that's basically the EFF's position. For the sake of pandering they present this position as "taking back land from the whites", but they do not mean then redistributing it to black common citizens, they just mean the government takes over everything. And they're not limiting themselves to land.
 
The thing is that basically all the governments in southern Africa say "we're going to take back the lands from the whites!" at regular intervals. Only Zimbabwe was ever actually crazy enough to do that. And only after like 30 years into a dictatorship where Mugabe basically had total power.

Farming is only 2% of SA's economy. But nevertheless, no one wants to invest in countries with unstable gov'ts, and gov'ts that may confiscate private property.

Telcom doesn't really worked if it gets severed from the network which is what happens if seized. That is where their biggest foreign investment lies.

Foreign Investment is Africa has always been sketchy and comparatively light, including South Africa. Just not a good return on investment with our without the political drama.
