No more Kneeling for NFL

I'd love to see the entire team, coaches, assistants, etc. kneel in defiance.... but not if it's forced on those who are unwilling.

So would I.

Except that fights would break out, I would love to see fans in the stands sitting also.

The anthem should not even be played...if there are restrictions on the people listening to it.

I don't understand the idea that kneeling during the anthem outrages you, but a President trashing vital American institutions like the FBI and 4th Estate does not.

It's truly weird.

Read as many of their posts as possible...and it stops being weird.

They are sick people. It pains me to say that, TRULY...but they are sick people.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you are definitely in the minority.
The anthem is played at thousands of events every day...and very few people choose to be disrespectful.
Never enough to really matter, that's for certain.
If the players are truly passionate about expressing their discontent, find another platform...mixing politics and football just didn't work...

The idea that you can decide what's respectful and what isint respectful is just plain arrogant.

A good word... "arrogant". It's perfect for Toxic Top, who also declared in the days of SSM debate that gay ppl are not allowed to use the word "marriage" to describe their unions because she said so. And don't even get her started on abortion. Oy vey. Suffice it to say that the old dried up spinster has declared that abortions are murder and no woman should have sex without 1) a committed partner, and 2) the ability to support any kids that might result. Because.

And our society is doing just wonderfully without fathers.

Being "in the minority" on this forum...is a badge I wear with honor.

Being "in the minority" on the question of whether the NFL players should be allowed to protest the way they were last year...is a badge I wear with equal honor.

I get that you feel otherwise.

That is a hallmark of a democratic state...as are the protests.

And the owners are free to penalize the protesters lol.

Long live democracy.

Okay...I agree with you on that Darth.

I wish some of the owners would show some spine...and not penalize them, but if wishes were horses, beggers would ride.

Hello ThatWiseOwlWoman,

The cons don't care about that or about Trump's vile and immoral behaviors. They claim to care about America, yet see nothing wrong with supporting a low-class unintelligent racist piece of filth as long as there is money in it for them. Or the promise of money, anyways. They truly believe that Trump's Apprentice game show persona is real.

I immediately hit the thanks button upon reading this. My next thought was if I could multiply the thanks by ten I would have done so without hesitation. You nailed it, Owl. Trump supporters include the deplorable hateful ones, of course, but also include affluent people who should know better yet simply look the other way because they perceive the possibility of personal financial gain. They are thinking of themselves, not the nation. Any economic bump out of Trump is destined to be short-lived, followed by the inevitably triggered terrible times as the nation pays the price for looting the federal budget to spread the spoils among the richest.

In their fervor to further this short-term financial gain, people who really know better have convinced themselves President Trump has the nation's better interest at heart. Nothing could be further from the truth. He is a selfish demagogue who would double-cross anybody if there was gain in it for him. The words: 'Trump' and 'trust' share the first three letters only and there is absolutely no other correlation between the two.

The president is a slick-talking con man, and always has been. He was raised to believe that you either take advantage of others or they will take advantage of you. He is a virtual sucker-puncher and he is most definitely a racist.

Well, if the owners had a spine they would have nipped this in the bud.

NFL fans, by and large, don’t want ‘their game’ [understanding there would be no NFL without NFL fans is central to this] infused with politics. It ruins it for them. Football games are so supposed to be an escape from that sort of thing. The kneelers should understand this and not use any part of the game as a platform for their social justice crusade.

They would do the owners and the fans a favor by indulging in that on their own time—and on their own dime.

I personally disagree with this type of protest, using the national anthem moment as a way to draw attention to an important issue, but I do emphatically support the right of those who choose to do this - to do so.

It is sad that we still have this issue of racial police brutality and degrading race relations after all these years. It is shameful for our country that we cannot solve this. It is even more shameful the way we have these voices who refuse to admit it even exists, which is highly ridiculous, because many of those same voices are the ones who are expressing racism.

The fact that this is still such a hot button issue after all these years and generations is what makes it seem stirringly appropriate for this type of protest to occur.

For some to work so hard to ignore the point of the protesting, and to try to make it about something else as the president has attempted to do, is indicative of how deep seated the problem is.

That's the real sadness here. Because of these large differences in view, we know that this problem (the one some refuse to even admit exists) will be with us for a long time.

You really wrote that and think it makes sense. Amazing. Democracy is owners deciding what constitutional rights you will be allowed is Democracy? WTF

You don’t really understand the constitution, do you lol.

Do you have a job? Can you use your job as a platform to voice your political views without fear of recompense?

I am a huge NFL fan...and I see NOTHING whatever wrong with what the players were doing...and PLENTY wrong with how the NFL big wigs decided it.

I know MANY NFL fans who feel as I do...and several are conservatives.

Most of us do not give a rat's ass if some players want to protest the minute and a half it takes for the anthem. It is a nothing burger to us.

Frankly, I would outlaw the anthem except if played by the Marine Band...without words...or played by the Marine Band with an operatic tenor accompanying it. The "playing" of the anthem has become a travesty...with performers black, white, male, female...doing a thing I find abhorrent.

I'm reminded that Tim Tebow kneeled during the anthem in protest against abortion. He said he couldn't stand for a flag that allowed such an action. He was praised as a model American and offered additional contracts for his "bravery".

Anyone on here want to admit they praised him or were you kicking his ass as well for disrespecting our flag and anthem?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Congress has made no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The NFL has decided to fine franchises if their players don't stand while the National Anthem is played. The government has nothing to do with it.

No law, no infringement, not a Constitutional issue.

Loser.

:rofl2:

As I said, illiterate fuck, the First Amendment right has never been in question. Have a literate 10 year old explain it to you, halfwit.
