Question for Trump & Trumptards re: giving teachers guns....

I can make schools and society much more safe. take away every single gun in the country. Schools would be safe. Crimes would be less dangerous. Lots less kids getting shot playing with guns. Less certain suicides and lot less of them. A much calmer and peaceful society would result.

That is a fact. That would be the result. But this is America. We love our guns. But in no way do you have less shootings by having more guns. More guns is not the answer.

To me it's obvious that it's not about a sign saying "gun-free zone", but about the fact that schools, businesses etc. are full of sitting ducks, just what a mass shooter wants.

Churches too. Here's something that occurred to me during these discussions. Quite a few of the mass shooters commit suicide with their own weapons, and/or go the suicide-by-cop route. So is an insane person bent on self-destruction and taking others with him, really going to care if that school, church, softball game, etc. has someone carrying a gun? He'll still be likely to take others with him before he's stopped. Hardening schools sounds more and more like a superior idea, compared to arming the staff.

Okay, I gave you almost 24 hours. I suppose you're more stupid than I thought(please don't ever try to buy a gun), or maybe you just like to argue(again, please don't ever try to buy a gun, you have issues). Before I answer your questions, I want to answer mine first(since you evidently don't know). That question was, What do you think would be the primary reason that a TEACHER would be packing heat in a SCHOOL? The simple answer is, TO PROTECT THE STUDENTS. Now, how exactly would this work? I'm going to tell you, because I'm a teacher in the Broward County school system, and I know how their emergency system works, and over the past 10 years, I have been involved in may lockdowns, both drills and real situations. There are color codes for almost any almost any emergency you can think of, but we'll focus on code yellow and red for now. Those are lockdowns we use for active shooter situations. A code yellow means there is a situation in a neighboring school, students are to remain in the classroom with doors locked, staff and faculty are to limit their movement through the school. The code red is the big leagues. Active shooter on campus, staff gets as many students into a classroom as possible and locks the door. In Parkland, one teacher was killed unlocking a classroom for students to hide in, another shielding 2 students with his own body, and a third running TOWARD the shooter, perhaps thinking he could distract him and save a few students. Distraction is a primary reason why I wish to be armed, that is, while I'm outside of the classroom. If I can send a few bullets in his direction, from cover, maybe I can send HIM looking for cover and buy some time. Once I get inside, I have a weapon with which to defend my students with if the door is breached. If you think a bunch of teachers are going to form a posse and gallop out to look for a heavily armed nutcase, you're as nutty as the hypothetical heavily armed nutcase. I have spent many hours in locked down classrooms with scared students, lights out and nothing to defend myself or my students with except a 4ft long Craftsman pry bar. It's getting old

As for you still thinking I'm Sailor, I don't care frankly. If it's keeping you up at night, I think the mods can check the IP addresses if you want. May I also suggest a hobby. Something relaxing to help you cope with your issues

Common sense, if you had any, should tell you that having even MORE bullets flying around, ricocheting off all the hard surfaces inside a typical modern school building is NOT going to make anyone safer. It's just going to cause more bodies to end up with bullet holes in them.

And FYI, though I don't believe your BS story about being a HS teacher in Broward County, or that you aren't Sailor, I can tell you that I actually DID work for ten years as a high school sub about 200 miles north of Broward, here in Orange County. And unlike you, I actually HAVE been, as you only claim to have been, in school lockdown situations. More than I can remember. And you know what? It doesn't make me anymore of an expert than you are, or claim to be, nor does it give me any greater insight into what being in an active shooter situation is like.
